Plenty of us wear many hats on regular days, most especially these irregular days. One such folk wearing ALLTHEHATS right now is Mount Rainier’s Rajni Sood Laurent. On top of her usual load, Rajni and the Brighter Bites team (we love you Carolina, Emily and Geraldine!) have been working to help get fresh produce to Prince George’s County families in need.
Rajni’s here to tell us about a new collaboration between Brighter Bites and Yard Peeps – the makers of the lovely yard sign above expressing gratitude for essential workers. Proceeds from the sale of these vibrant signs go to Brighter Bites, a national nonprofit working to help families in need get healthy food options. More from our dear Rajni, below!
Support Essential Workers and Prince George’s County Families
Hi R1F Peeps!
We’re really digging these adorbs yard signs by Yard Peeps. Hot off the presses, oh say, of about a week ago, they’re selling like hot cakes. We wanted you to be able to get yours too! Here’s how: Place an online order (5 or more & shipping is free!), wait for your beauties to arrive (give or take a few days, be patience, there’s a pandemic, ya know!) & claim your stake in your yard!
You’ll be showing your love for our uber important frontline workers (virtual high five, workers!) & feeding families in Prince Georges County with fresh food. Say what? That’s right, ‘cause this cool mom in Texas who doodled the signs is giving all proceeds to a non-profit working in our very own Prince Georges County Schools called Brighter Bites. Don’t stop there, you say? Read on for more!
More Ways to Help
You can ALSO help by donating directly to Brighter Bites online, donating groceries or other goods (masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, school supplies, diapers, etc.), or signing up for a Memorial Day Wine Auction. Thanks to Brighter Bites in partnership with the Capital Area Food Bank, Coastal Sunbelt, local council representatives, PGCPS school board members, schools and many many more community members, families can continue to get fresh food. Be on the lookout for upcoming fresh produce distributions coming near you!
Still want more? Our weekend guides guru is a good point of contact, Rajni works as a Brighter Bites Coordinator (rajni.sood.laurent@brighterbites.org), or you can contact the local Brighter Bites manager, Carolina Moppett (carolina.moppett@brighterbites.org).
You can also check out Brighter Bites Family Resources and sign-up for their newsletter. Fun activities to do with the kids & ways to stay healthy while schools are closed (yes, please!).
And friends, we wanna see pics of you & your beautiful faces with your new yard signs! Tag them #route1yardpeeps.
