Bird Walk at Lake Artemesia
Find many species of birds by sight and song, learning from an experienced guide. All skill levels are welcome. Binoculars recommended. No reservations required. Sponsored by the Prince George’s Audubon Society and the Patuxent Bird Club, a chapter of the Maryland Ornithological Society.

Thursday Night Music Series – Proverbs
Eat some good Mediterranean food, support a local Mt. Rainier restaurant and get down with the roots / rock / reggae sounds of Proverbs – a regional favorite led by vocalist and guitarist Ziah Ayubu, whom many of us know from checking out at Glut! Always a fun time and can attest that their falafels, with some special sauce, will make you return for more!

Park(ing) Day
For one day – street parking spaces throughout the City will be turned into pop-up parks. Each parking space will be hosted by a local business or group. Enjoy temporary parks in these spaces!

Opening Reception: Through the Hedge
Swampy landscapes, castles, creatures, and magical scenes abound in this entertaining exhibition which explores a strange world conjured from the mind of illustrator Rebecca Solow. The work emerged through daily drawings as part of The 100 Day Project on Instagram.

Open Barre – $5 Happy Hour Barre
Never tried Open Barre before? Now’s your chance. This class is open to everyone who registers – no membership required to sign up. By exploring the activity of drawing and incorporating elements of chance, both artists explore the idea of time and the potential of form as vehicles to experience, interpret, and reflect the temporal world.
Join a gala 80th anniversary celebration of the first film ever shown at the Greenbelt movie theatre! Settle into your seat as Greenbelters did 80 years ago and watch a 35 mm print of Little Miss Broadway, starring Shirley Temple. Before the film, there will be a sing-along of Shirley Temple songs. Cake and Shirley Temple drinks will be served.

Rivers to Rockets Bike Rally
Come and ride with us leaving from Roosevelt Center, using the Rhode Island Avenue Trolley Trail, to the Hyattsville Arts Festival. We will spend about two hours at the festival before returning. (You may leave early). Bike parking is provided by Arrow Bicycles. Cost includes starting line snack, a tour guide, and a voucher for lunch at the festival. Those that register prior to September 14 will be guaranteed a t-shirt.

16th Greenbelt Blues Festival

Creative Lock-In
Join us for a night of structured creativity, inspiration, live sketch modeling and more. A Creative Lock-In is a time during which we lead participants through the life cycle of creating a piece of creative work. We can all use a bit of method and intentional process in our creative work. After the Lock-in there will be an Open Creation session to get your creativity flowing. Come to one or both parts of the evening!

BK50: Brooke’s Outlandish 50th Birthday Bash
Joe’s Movement Emporium’s co-founder, executive director, empress of the emporium and visionary, Brooke Kidd, is turning 50 on September 19th! To celebrate this milestone, Joe’s is hosting a birthday fundraiser to raise $15,000 in support of the HOME Improvement Campaign to keep our facility fabulous and functional.
