Celebrate the music of Dinah Washington in Glenn Dale, Andrew Strong Fundraiser in and a good Irish music session in Hyattsville, Beer + Yoga in Riverdale Park and more inside the Route 1 Corridor’s Weekend Guide! Share with a friend and help keep this going!

Saturday

African American Women in Music: The Music of Dinah Washington
In honor of Black History month (coming up!), explore famous African American women in music. Ms. Washington’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame famous! Come hear what all the jazz is about!
When: 1pm
Where: Marietta House Museum, Glenn Dale
Cost: $5/person 

Making the Choices that are Right for You as You Age
Debra Levy Eldercare Associates and a Certified Care Manager. She will speak on what everyone needs to know as they get older and start thinking about choices they may eventually need to make.
When: 1:30-4pm
Where: Hyattsville Municipal Building, Hyattsville

AndrewStrong Fundraiser: Brews, Tacos & a Bike for a great cause
Help is on it’s way @ this fundraiser for a cancer patient! Enjoy drawings, games & good times w/ your ticket purchase. Beers & Taqueria Habanero tacos for sale. Worthwhile cause!
When: 4-7pm
Where: Streetcar 82 Brewing Co, Hyattsville
Cost: $20, beers and tacos sold separately 

Contentment is Wealth (Irish music)
Blistering dance tunes & tender ballads in the Irish tradition.  Local multi-instrumentalists representing the local burgeoning Irish music scene. Mead for sale, of course!
When: 7-10pm
Where: Maryland Meadworks, Hyattsville
Cost: Free!, mead sold separately 

Paint Branch Creek in Concert
Enjoy this acoustic musical collaboration rooted in Americana. Imagine visions of America – night shifts, mill towns, prairie lands & open road. Reflections & memories of the past, while looking forward.
When: 8-9:30pm
Where: Joe’s Movement Emporium, Mount Rainier
Cost: $8-$15

Sunday

Suburban Maryland Spring Home Show
Get inspired for your upcoming home improvement project. Event features a wide selection of professionals in a fun, interactive environment. Explore the possibilities for your home today!
When: 10am-6pm
Where: The Show Place Arena, Upper Marlboro
Cost: Free! w/ pass or $10 at the door 

Black Women & Politics: To the Ballot and Beyond Opening Reception 
Check out this historical exhibition featuring black women in electoral politics & gaining the right to vote! Guided tours available for schools  & community groups!
When: 2-5pm
Where: Harmony Hall Arts Center, Fort Washington
Cost: Free! 

Bottoms Up! Brewery Yoga
Do some yoga, then enjoy a brew! Cool collaboration between two local vendors. It’s what movement plus community is all about! 60-min yoga & post-chat. Laugh over a drink!
When: 3pm
Where: Denizen’s Brewing Co., Riverdale Park
Cost: $20 

College Park Winter Chorale Concert – Music from Operas
One hour concert. Reception follows. The Chorale and Chamber Singers present music by Puccini, Verdi, Bernstein, Gershwin, Gilbert and Sullivan & more!
When: 7-9pm
Where: St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, College Park
Cost: Free!, donations accepted
