The University of Maryland’s Arboretum & Botanical Gardens is offering a new program for new parents. For the past year, they’ve offered a popular Walk with an Arborist tour and this year, they’re piloting a new program, Walk with an Arborist…and Your Baby!
Walk with an Arborist…and Your Baby
They’re hoping to reach new parents both on and off campus who may be struggling with the isolation that often occurs during parental leave, as well as postpartum depression, and those just looking for something interesting and fun to do.
About UMD’s Walk with an Arborist + Baby
From event description: “Did you know that the entire University of Maryland campus is an arboretum and botanical garden? Enjoy a morning walk around some of the highlights of our gardens and grounds with certified arborist and outreach coordinator (and new mom!), Meg Smolinski. This version of our popular Walk with an Arborist tour is designed for parents with babes-in-arms who are comfortable in a carrier. The route begins at the main entrance of The Clarice Center for the Performing Arts and involves stairs and walking on uneven ground, so strollers are not recommended. The tour takes around 45 minutes and paid parking is available next to The Clarice in the Stadium Drive Garage or at any metered spot.”

This program is free and open to the public.
