Pint of Beer for 5 Cents at Franklins Restaurant, Brewery and General Store
Now through the end of the shutdown, show your federal work ID at Hyattsville’s Franklins Restaurant, Brewery and General Store and your first pint, 10.5 oz or 1/2 pint of beer will cost just a nickel! If you’re not drinking, enjoy a soft drink on the house!
25% off at District Taco ๐ฎ
District Taco is offering 25% off to any federal employee with their government ID until the end of the shutdown! Applies at all locations.
BOGO Free Sandwich Deal at Potbelly Sandwich Shops Nationwide
In this tweet here, Potbelly announced that through Sunday (1/27), federal government employees showing ID will get buy-one-get-one free entrees nationwide.
Buy One, Get One Chicken Meal at Sardi’s
Every Tuesday during the furlough, Sardi’s in Beltsville is offering a “Buy One, Get One Free” on a 1/4 chicken meal or 3 piece dark meal. Additionally, Sardi’s will offer a 10% discount to furloughed government employees every day of the week; just show your ID at checkout. More info about Sardi’s offer here.
20% Off at Busboys and Poets
From now until the shutdown is over, all Busboys and Poets locations, furloughed employees with federal employee ID get 20% off dine-in meals. They’re also offering 10% off at their bookstore on a purchase with valid ID. Offers not valid during happy hour and not combined with other discounts. Cannot be used on alcohol.
Free Wings or Buttermilk Sandwich at Wings Over College Park
Now until the shutdown ends, Wings Over College Park is offering free wings or buttermilk sandwiches for furloughed federal workers and their guest, with federal government ID.
10% Off All Good at Shortcake Bakery
Now until end of January, receive 10% off all baked goods at Hyattsville’s Shortcake Bakery. Federal ID required.
Free Breakfast at Ikea for Federal Workers
Show a valid government ID from 9:30-11am at Ikea and you can get a free breakfast (including coffee, tea or fountain drink). Per this article, valid at the Ikea store in College Park.

Furloughed federal employees can enjoy a free tour & tasting of apple & pear brandies, dutch-style gins and rye whiskies at Hyattsville’s newest addition, sang froid distilling. Hours are 12-4pm, Saturdays & Sundays.
50% off on Furloughed Fridays at Maryland Meadworks
Each Friday (3-10pm) during the furlough, Hyattsville’s Maryland Meadworks is offering 50% off with a federal ID.
20% Off at DC Brau
At nearby DC Brau‘s tasting room, furloughed workers will receive a discount matching the amount of days of the shutdown, so January 13th = 23rd day of shutdown = 23 percent off onsite or to-go purchases. (Note: The tasting room is not open on Mondays and Tuesdays. Also, the furlough discount is not valid on Fridays, since flagship pints are already 50% off.
$1 Glasses of Wine at City Winery
Head down to City Winery in nearby-ish Ivy City (NE DC), where government workers can enjoy $1 glasses of City Winery’s label on tap.
Happy Hour Pricing for Drinks at Brookland’s Finest
Get happy hour pricing on drinks at Brookland’s Finest with government ID. (And while in Brookland, why not check out the beautiful Franciscan Monastery, ideally before you’re inebriated. ๐)
Want to buy a furloughed worker a beer?
At Hyattsville’s Streetcar 82 Brewing Co., customers can pay it forward by buying a beer for a federal worker on furlough. Each purchase goes into a our Furlough beer-fund and can be claimed by a federal worker with valid identification. More information here.
