Adults’ Weekend Guide: June 28th – July 1st

“This is America” Sip & Paint, Shane Hines at the Summer Concert Series, As IF 90s Band, HY block pARTy + Scavenger Hunt + Skate Jam + Art Show, Five on Friday at Final Friday Jam Series & more, all this weekend!

THURSDAY 

Riverdale Park Farmers Market
One of my fave farmers markets! Get your fresh and local produce right here! Live music, too! We love strolling around the Riverdale Park Farmers Market, buying some fresh, local produce, grabbing a bite from one of the vendors, absorbing some tunes while the kids frolic around and then we all head to Town Center Market to enjoy a tasty beer or 5 outside.
When: 3-7pm
Where: 4650 Queensbury Rd, Riverdale Park
Cost: No entry fee.
Daniel Smith Watercolor Demo 
Artist & Craftsman Supply is bringing a watercolor demo by Daniel Smith to Pyramid followed by a pop-up shop on-site. Seating is limited so make sure to sign up early! All participants walk away with free supplies! 
When: 5-7pm 
Where: Pyramid Atlantic Art Center, Hyattsville 
Cost: Free!

Fitness in the Park: Summer Body Boot Camp
When: 6:30-7:30pm
Where: Bladensburg Waterfront Park (Located near playground), Bladensburg
Cost: Free!

This is America, Sip & Paint 
Join this intimate “This is America” sip n paint experience hosted by ArtBae featuring a 2-hour guided painting instruction, conscious hip hop and R & B music selections, complimentary wine (or BYOB) with RSVP. 
When: 7-9pm

Paint Branch Bridge Lighting Installation
Check out the new artistic lighting on Route One’s Paint Branch Bridge! The wide palette of colors lifts the location as a memorable and inviting place for pedestrians and bicyclists.

Where: Baltimore Ave Bridge on the NE side, b/w Lakeland Rd & Campus Drive

FRIDAY 

Open Barre – $5 Happy Hour Barre
Never tried Open Barre before? Now’s your chance. This class is open to everyone who registers – no membership required to sign up.

Summer Concert Series – Shane Hines
Come out and see local and talented musician Shane Hines perform in Bear Square!

New Sue Revue! Stained Glass Using Alcohol Ink 
Create stained glass from alcohol ink!

As IF 90’s Band
As If is the ultimate 90’s tribute band bringing the audience back in time for a transcendent nostalgic experience that they’ll never want to end.

Final Friday Jams Series!
5 on Friday will be kickin’ off the summer series! Featuring Walter on bass, CJ on horn/vocals and Ann on keys/vocals.

Cost: No entry fee (but you will be tempted to buy some pizza & beer fo sho! 🙂 

By And By with Rock Creek Revival 
Grab a drink and listen to the bluegrass tunes of By and By with Rock Creek Survival!

Where: MilkBoy ArtHouse, College Park 
Cost: $10-15 



SATURDAY 
Pilates 
When: 9-10am 
Where: Yoga Space, Hyattsville 
Cost: Free (for students new to YS); Otherwise, drop-ins are $15/class 
Movin with the Mayor
Join Mayor Candace Hollingsworth as you build strength and boost endurance – all in one fun fitness session! This Conditioning Strength Circuit Training is brought to us by JM3 Health & Fitness. 
When: 10-11am 
Where: Magruder Park Basketball Court, 3911 Hamilton Street, Hyattsville 
Cost: Free! 

HY Block pARTy, Scavenger Hunt + “Caffeinated” Group Art Exhibition
Come out for rad art, music, food, drinks, a skate jam, a scavenger hunt (2-6pm) and more! Scavenger Hunt ends at Block Party at Vigilante! 
When: 2-8pm 
Where: 4327 Gallatin St, Hyattsville 
Cost: Free! (No entry fee)

#poolparty
Written by Hyattsville resident Jennifer Mendenhall and based on a local Prince George’s County story, #poolparty sheds light on the racial history of America’s swimming pools. U​se code AllyTwoFor and for the next 48 hours you’ll get two tickets to #poolparty for the price of one!
When: 8pm
Where: Joe’s Movement Emporium, Mt. Rainier
Cost: $25 general; $15 students and veterans

Astronomy Star Party!
See the Universe! Visit our observatory, look through club members’ telescopes, or bring your own. Event will be canceled if it’s too cloudy to see any stars. Sponsored by the Astronomical Society of Greenbelt.
When: 9:30pm
Where: Northway Fields Park, Greenbelt (Observatory is at the end of a dirt road)
Cost: Free!

SUNDAY 

Board and Brew
Head out for some top notch coffee / beer and play some board games at this fun establishment. Wrote a post here about Board and Brew – by no means a place just for kids. It’s fun for all ages.
When: 9am-9pm
Where: 8150 Baltimore Ave, College Park
Cost: $5/person, unlimited games
Hatha Yoga – Beginners and Gentle 
When: 11am-12:30pm
Where: Yoga Space, Hyattsville 
Cost: Free (for students new to YS); Otherwise, drop-ins are $15/class

Greenbelt Farmers Market
Check out this cool & big farmers market offering produce, pasture-raised meats, sustainable seafood, soaps, crepes, ice cream, breads and baked goods, goat cheese & more! When done shopping, head to the New Deal Cafe for some nosh and/or a coffee by Vigilante!
When: 10am-2pm
Where: 25 Crescent Rd, Greenbelt
Cost: No entry fee

Community Yoga
An informal group led by neighborhood instructors. Bring a mat – all levels, including those new to yoga are welcome. Questions? Email: rlgitter@gmail.com

Where: Magruder Park, Hyattsville (if weather is bad, usually relocates to City Building)
Cost: Free!
