Another post this week on a local building that stops you in your tracks and wonder about might have been: The TESST building in Hyattsville. Its signage commands your attention and its architecture speaks to a time when buildings were artfully designed. But we digress. While we don’t know what the TESST building used to be (feel free to enter answer in comments), we do know what it will be soon: Will’s Home Decorating! That’s right. Will’s Home Decorating off of Route 1 in Beltsville is moving to Hyattsville next spring.
Michael Richards, grandson of original owner William Schneider, reached out to us earlier this week to share the good news. He noted that while the Hyattsville location is a little bit smaller than the Beltsville one, the move is providing himself and his sister, Valerie Kadelac, a good opportunity to provide customers at the new location with a more updated version of their offerings.
Will’s Home Decorating, Moving to Hyattsville
As you may have noticed, Will’s Home Decorating has already been pretty active and present in Hyattsville for some time now. They’ve donated time and supplies to many a mural and projects around town (like the “Fight the Blight” project) and a mural by Franklins Restaurant & Brewery, They’re also members of the Hyattsville Preservation Association.
Will’s Home Decorating is Best Known For….
Having decorated most of our home with hand-me-downs and ups, we were curious as to what we might find at Will’s Home Decorating. Michael shared that they’re best known for their impeccable decorating services, selling high quality goods and a great price. Both Michael and Valerie have design backgrounds so he noted that they know how to coordinate a room, corner, house from top to bottom. In fact, they’re so well-known for their craft that customers drive from as far as New Jersey and South Carolina just to avail of their services and goods.
Your Turn!
Have you shopped at Will’s Home Decorating before? Excited about their move to Hyattsville? Where do you shop for home goods in the area? Who do you seek when searching for interior design help? Share away in the comments. We all want to know!

TESST was a technical school. The sign was funded by a facade improvement program through the city of Hyattsville in the 1980s. In the 90s they moved to Beltsville. Now a great local business is moving from Beltsville to Hyattsville.
