SATURDAY
Third Hyattsville Zombie Run! 5K Race
Hyattsville Zombie Run is a fun 5K race to raise money to support Hyattsville Elementary School. Dress up as a zombie or any Halloween costume to add to the fun!
When: 8:45-11am
Where: Magruder Park, Hyattsville

Girls in Aviation Day
Girls ages 8-16 are invited to explore opportunities for work and play in aviation and aerospace! Learn about aviation, engage in hands-on activities, meet aviation professionals and test out flight simulators!
When: 9am
Where: College Park Aviation Museum, College Park
Cost: $3.50+
7th World of Wheels Touch-a-Truck
Bring your kids to the Pepco World of Wheels for CASA, where they can explore a variety of vehicles. Bring your camera and capture your child sitting in the driver’s seat of a recycling truck, police cruiser and more! There will be moon bounces, face painting, crafts, carnival games and tons of other fun things to do. (As you can see from photo above, we’ve been to and enjoyed this event!) When: 10am-2pm

Festival del Rio Anacostia
Celebrate the outdoors and the Anacostia River. From hands-on activities, crafts, entertainment, delicious ethnic food and more, there’s something for everyone! All activities are conducted in Spanish.
When: 11am-4pm
Where: Bladensburg Waterfront Park, Bladensburg
Cost: Free!
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by enjoying the diversity and richness of Hispanic culture. Enjoy live music, crafts, food, games, face painting, dancing and colorful displays.
When: Saturday, October 13th, 11am-2pm
Where: Langley Park Community Center, 1500 Merrimac Dr, Hyattsville

SUNDAY
Celebrate Africa!
Bladensburg Waterfront Park will transform into an African marketplace when artists, storytellers, dancers and food vendors from Senegal to Somalia converge to celebrate Africa! Come dressed as your most glorious African garb and stroll the marketplace where kente cloth weavers and leatherworks will practice centuries-old art. Storyteller, sacred drumming, dancing, fashion show & more!
When: Sunday, October 14th, 12-5pm

Day Trip to Hike, History & Hops in Historic Ellicott City
We recently did some Hiking along Historic Ellicott City’s #9 Trolley Trail, made our way to a history lesson at the Benjamin Banneker Museum then headed back for some dinner and drinks in Ellicott City (Manor Hill Tavern to be precise). Check out our itinerary for the beginner hike and get outdoors today!
Harvest Festival
Enjoy fall family fun with hands-on activities in the garden and open hearth kitchen. Create autumn crafts, snack on seasonal treats, get your face painted, explore the open hearth kitchen and more! Refreshments and activities available while supplies last.

Lake Artemesia
Get outside and go for a stroll or a bike ride or a slow but enjoyable crawl along lovely Lake Artemesia! Last time we went, spotted some turtles, frogs, ducks & birds of all stripes, beautiful lilipads & more!
