Storytime PopUp! @ The Waterhole
Join us for stories, songs, fingerplays and more at this innovation collaboration between PGCMLS & Mt. Rainier’s fabulous organic juice & smoothie joint, The Waterhole. Best for 0-5 years old. Curious? Click for my review of The Waterhole!

Come and explore the fun of making music and learn about sound waves. Create your own music in groups and see who can come up with the best song!

SATURDAY
[11/17 Update – SOLD OUT]*SantaFest 2017!
Kick off the holiday season this Saturday at SantaFest! There’ll be arts activities led by Art Works Now, a DJ spinning holiday tunes and a chance to buy some pics with Santa! Read all about our time at SantaFest last year, here!

Raptors Reign (All Ages)
Expose the kids to the power of nature through discussions and up close encounters with birds of prey. This is a drop-in program = no registration required. We’ve done this before and consider it a cool opp to see a huge owl up closed and then head outside to explore the Patuxent Research Refuge. Pack a picnic! (No food allowed indoors but plenty of space to eat outside; note that there are no garbage cans on site so plan accordingly.)
When: 1-3pm

Thanksgiving Glitterfest (All Ages)
A one-day workshop for young artists and families to decorate sparkling centerpieces with glitter for their Thanksgiving table. Nothing says “Thanks!” like glitter – and all the “mess” can stay in our classroom. Families are encouraged to bring their own items to decorate, but can also choose from a limited selection of free centerpiece items at the workshop.
When: 2-4pm

Augmented Reality Demo!
Students will learn what Augmented Reality is and how it works. They will also be able to bring their own AR Coloring Pages to life through the Quiver App! Call to register.

Heroes Bowl VII
Head to this fun football game where the Hyattsville Police Officers will face off against the Volunteer Fire Department! We went last year and had a fun time. Great way to be with and to support our local community. Bring your own seating and, if can, a new, unwrapped toy to donate for the Sonny Frazier Toy Drive, benefiting children in our community who would otherwise not receive gifts at the holidays.

SUNDAY
Smaland at College Park’s Ikea
Free, 1 hour, supervised, enclosed, safe & clean play area near the entrance. Enjoy some shopping or just relax/eat/peoplewatch at the restaurant upstairs while your young one(s) has a blast at Smaland. Children must be potty trained and be 37” to 54” tall (so children typically b/w ages of 3-6). Tips: (1) Best to arrive earlier on in the day as day progresses, so do the entrances lines; & (2) Join Ikea Family & kids get extra 30 minutes to play (depending on capacity) & you get free coffee!

Sunday Experiment – NASA’s Ice, Cloud and Land Elevation Satellite-2 (Ages 5-10)
Learn about the science and engineering behind NASA’s Ice Cloud and Land Elevation Satellite-2 Mission through hands-on activities. Try augmented reality sandbox, trace a satellite image of Arctic sea ice, try out the photon-counting “bouncy ball” activity.
When: 1 – 3 pm
