Paint Branch Creek Plays to Standing-Room Only Crowd at Old Parish House!

Did you check out Paint Branch Creek this past weekend? If so, you saw this local Americana band play to a standing-room only (and then some) crowd at College Park’s Old Parish House!

While Paint Branch Creek (PBC) has played before at Robert Harper Books and at College Park’s Outdoor Music Series, this past weekend’s performances at the Old Parish House was Paint Branch Creek’s “big unveiling of new songs,” according to Eric Olson, PBC’s chief songwriter! (And yes, this lyricist is the same Eric Olson who previously served on the Prince George’s County Council, College Park City Council and who currently is the Executive Director of the College Park City University Partnership. Overachiever. 😆)

The acoustic harmonies are played and belted out by local favorites Eric Maring (Mr M), Allison Hughes, Greg Heelan, Patrick Lynch, and Arun Ivatury.

Acoustic Americana

I stopped by Saturday night to check out what all the buzz was about and ended up being treated to an evening filled with songs reminiscing about night shifts and mill towns, drives along long, vast stretches of America, a fun ditty about a ’62 Cadillac and a somber, moving tribute to the memory of Zoe Falkenberg and her family.

As the event’s description noted, PBC’s songs “reflect on where we’ve been, some question where we’re going, and some just linger on old memories.” This event was truly a community gathering and effort, with neighbors Sean Cooney and Anissa Sunday deftly managing the band’s lighting.
