Blast-in-the-Past: A Hands-On History Playground
Montpelier grounds are turned into a kid-sized colonial village, complete with trades, town square, home, farm – everything you need for a trip back in time. (We checked this out – fun, low-fi way to spend a morning or afternoon! If you go, build in some time to check out the latest exhibit at the Arts Center. And put on sunscreen.)

STEM-Fun at Diven’s Den
Check out this new-to-you STEM-inspired playroom, teaching the kiddos about life in 1800s Laurel. Curious? Read my review of Diven’s Den! Make sure to build in some time for a walk through nearby River Walk! π

Gymnastics Workshop / Open Gym at PG Sports & Learning Complex
This place is really great for 1-12 year olds! HUGE. Two climbing walls. Two foam pits. Tons of equipment for curious ones to explore and blow off some steam. Very clean. Spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Parents are required to be on the floor with the children (Maximum 3 child:1 adult). Check out my review here!

We love Summer Jam! Live music, food, beer/wine, kids frolicking around, parents earnestly attempting however disjointed conversations with friends and neighbors. Includes moonbounce and kids’ activities, too! Can also check out Hyattsville’s Micro Farmers Market!

2018 Lotus and Water Lily Festival
This two day festival features performances from cultures around the world, family fun games, arts and crafts and the amazingly beautiful lotuses and water lilies in full bloom!

This year’s Zinefest will feature 50+ zine-makers sharing their writing, art, prints and more! Zinefest is an independent event designed to provide a space for zine-makers, self-published artists and writers to share their work with each other and the local communities. (Grab a coffee at nearby Zeke’s Coffee, take in the Zinefest then grab a bite to eat from Good Food Markets.)

Engineering 101 (Ages 9+)
What does an engineer do? Learn what an engineer does and use the Engineering Design Process to complete a task or challenge.

Waterfront Arts Festival
Get in touch with your left brain and visit this year’s festival! Amid the scenic atmosphere of urban waterfront park, enjoy an afternoon of art and imagination! Painting, sculptures, jewelry, ceramics, photography and a performance by the Crawdaddies, Kim Reynolds Trio and Strike Force Drumline! Kids Creative Zone plus art workshops and demonstrations, free boat tours and more!
