Fa-BOO-lous Halloween Events for Route 1 Kids!

Thinking about Halloween already? Then you’re in luck as our 2021 Guide to Halloween Fun Along Route 1 has the complete roundup of all things Halloween leading up to the 31st!

2021 Halloween Fun on Route 1

To help keep track, we’ve listed these fun events by date. Click on link for full info as some events require advance tickets purchase.

October-Fest in Lanham

Stroll through the apple-palooza area and enjoy apple-themed activities including candy apple creations, crafts, and apple STEAM projects. Enjoy music and entertainment, fall sports, and workshops. October 16th. Woodmore Town Centre. Register here.

Story & Craft at Watkins Regional Park

Enjoy a farm related story, followed by a craft and an animal meet and greet. October 20th, 10-11am at Old Maryland Farm. Tickets and info here.

Family Fall Fun Fest at Glenarden

Enjoy harvest-themed games, pumpkin painting, kid fitness activities, exhibitors, food trucks, and more! Do not forget to wear PINK in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. October 23rd, 10am-1pm.

Haunted Hike in Cheverly

9th Annual Haunted Hike, half a mile along the Town Park Woodsworth Trail. Free event. kids 5 to 12 @ 6pm. Teens 8-930pm. Dare to make the hike without a flashlight but beware the Headless Horseman. Saturday, October 23rd, 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM.

Pumpkin Mania 2021 in Upper Marlboro

Choose any of our pumpkin-themed activities, the skate mobile (must bring your own socks), creative hand painting, festive fall music, and line dancing. Pumpkins will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. There will be a food truck available for refreshments to purchase and much more! Sunday, October 24th, 11am – 2pm.

BOO Through 2021 – Watkins Park

From the safety of your vehicle, enjoy touring through a Wizard of Oz holiday-themed drive-thru! Children will receive a goody bag, a pumpkin (while supplies last), and more! Friday, October 29th, 6:30pm – 8:30pm.

Trunk or Treat in Greenbelt

Join the Greenbelt Police Department at this family friendly Trunk or Treat event. Candy, food and prizes will be provided. Friday, October 29th, 6-8pm.

Boo & Bites: Taste of Greater Riverdale

(Adult-friendly event 😉 ) Costumes encouraged as you walk around, try a variety of small bites at our participating businesses, sip on drinks, trick or treat and enjoy live outdoor patio music. Bring out friends, family and neighbors for an all around good time. Friday, October 29th, 6-9pm. 

Kids’ Spooky River Boat Tour in Bladensburg

Enjoy a Halloween-themed boat tour down the Anacostia River. Enjoy spooky music, games, activities, sights, tricks, and treats. Saturday, October 30th, 11am-12pm.

Treat-O-Rama in Hyattsville

Join the City for a Treat-O-Rama: Part II in Driskell Park from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with drive-thru or walk-up candy pick up options! At 6:30 p.m. the Hyattsville Police Department will be hosting a Trunk-or-Treat in the parking lot of Northwestern High School! Come show off your boo-tiful costumes! COVID-19 safe masks that cover your nose and mouth are required. Saturday, October 30th. See above for times.

Trunk or Treat in Upper Marlboro

Drive through the decorated parking lot, past decorated vehicles, and get free pre-packaged bag of candy per child at the end of the route. Saturday, October 30th, 6-8:30pm.

Halloween Day at the Laurel Museum

Tour the Laurel “boo-seum” on Halloween, Sunday October 31, and receive a FREE Halloween Treat bag. 12-4pm ONLY. While supplies last. Adult supervision required.

Thru October

Halloween Eye Spy Trains (Cabin John & Wheaton Regional Parks)

Take a ride through “Transylvania” aboard Cabin John Regional Park’s and Wheaton Regional Park’s Eye Spy Miniature Trains. Saturdays & Sundays in October. Perfect for kids ages 8 and under.

Halloween Movies on the Potomac (National Harbor)

Pack your chairs, grab food to go from one of the delicious dining establishments, and meet on the Plaza’s big screen for a *FREE* evening of fun for all ages! October 10: Casper; October 17: Adams Family; October 24: Hocus Pocus; & October 31: Goosebumps.
