Hyattsville’s ASK (Asking Saves Kids) Day 2019
At this Friday evening’s (6/21) Summer Jam, Hyattsville’s “Tired Parents” will have a table set up to share information on the ASK Day campaign – devoted to helping keep children safe from guns in their community by encouraging parents to ask a simple question (“Is there an unlocked gun in your home?”) before sending their children over to play.
Kids Love Veggies at Eco City Farms (& Smoothie Recipe!)
ECO City Farms recently hosted a Kids Love Veggies workshop at their Edmonston farm, where children ages 3-7 got the chance to explore the farm and make some delicious sweet and savory treats using ingredients harvested that day. The workshop’s goal was to explore fun and tasty ways to prepare vegetables for kids. Based on the squeals, smiling faces and bellies full of dressing-topped vegetables that day, I’d say mission accomplished! Pop-Up Book Sale Thursday at Riverdale Park Station Raising Funds for Public Schools
Join Riverdale Park Station this Thursday as we host our second book sale in partnership with Turning The Page, a local education non-profit engaging public school parents for student success. On Thursday, May 9th from 11am-8pm, come shop over 10,000 books, DVD’s and CD’s. Everything will be under $6 and proceeds will directly benefit literacy and family programs in local public schools. This event was a huge hit last time, so please come out again and shop for a cause! Catch local musician Tommy Rothman performing from 5p-8p as well. We can’t wait to see you there!
Paint & Sip Wine at Creative Spirits this Summer!
It’s time to show your artistic side this summer! Join Brentwood Arts Exchange and Arts on a Roll every second Thursday in May, June, and July for a creative and fun night of art making in a gallery setting with Creative Spirits, a series of art and sip summer events. It doesn’t matter if you can’t draw a straight line or if you are Picasso, our professional instructors will guide you through the process of creating an original piece of art to take home. Each class is $25 and includes: A glass of wine, light refreshments, and all art supplies needed. Come alone or bring friends, everyone 21 and over is invited!
