Many of us regularly patronize our amazing coffeeshops, bars, restaurants, tattoo salons and other businesses that have been ordered closed. Even as you practice social distancing, you can help support our local service industry staff. Consider sending a “tip” to your favorite bartender, barista, server, stylist, etc., via the SoHy Co-op’s Virtual Tip Jar. As of now, the list includes employees of Whistle Stop Studio, Streetcar 82 Brewing Co., Vigilante Coffee Co., Espaço Cultural Samba Trovão, Maryland Meadworks, Pizzeria Paradiso and Franklins Restaurant & Brewery. More to join, we’re sure!
Three Cheers for Alcohol Delivery and Curbside Pickup Along Route 1 Corridor!!
If there’s one thing we love here along Route 1, it’s our alcohol! Lucky for us, six (and counting) of our beloved small business alcohol entrepreneurs are now delivering these treats to our homes, (and hearts, minds and nervous systems)! To date, Denizens Brewing Co., Franklins Restaurant, Brewery and General Store, Maryland Meadworks, Sangfroid Distilling, Streetcar 82 Brewing Co., and Town Center Market all have created ways for you to get your fix with little contact. Many deliver right to your front door. Read on for more info!
Coronavirus: List of Local Stores with Special Hours for Elderly, Vulnerable Shoppers
As you know by now, seniors and the immunocompromised are deemed more at risk for serious complications from the coronavirus than others. To help reduce this risk, many grocery stores are now offering seniors-only shopping hours. The idea is to allow those most vulnerable some time to shop in an environment with fewer risks (read: other humans).
Route One Fun’s put together this list of participating grocery stores offering senior-only shopping hours near the Route 1 corridor. We’ve also noted stores that allow early access for those with compromised immune systems.
“Hello” from Route One Fun!
I started Route One Fun over three years ago out as a way to help spread the good word about all the great things we’ve got going on in this area. And while this list of “great things” is a gazillion miles long, it’s what’s at the top of the list that makes us shine the most: Community.
As someone who has moved around her fair share, I can attest that the communities of the Route 1 Corridor are truly unparalleled in their commitment to one another. On that note and in furtherance of our desire to continue being a conduit of all the magic we’ve got going on here, we will be posting here (and on social media) about community resources, needs, as well as posts that will provide much-needed moments of levity (we hope!). The only things we won’t be doing for the time being are the weekend guides.
So keep reading and keep visiting Route One Fun, folks! And if there’s a topic you’d like to write about and share with the Route One Fun community, please be in touch!
