A new organization – Route 1 Mask Match – was just created to help match handmade cloth masks to community members in the Route 1 Corridor and help flatten the curve of COVID-19 in the community. Read on for more information on how you can be a part of this great effort to make more masks for our local communities and/or how you can request a mask for yourself!
Many pharmacies are offering free prescription medication delivery as a way of helping folks, especially those with compromised immune systems, to stay at home during these coronavirus times. Here’s a list of Route 1 pharmacies offering free delivery of prescription medications. (Some also deliver essential household items such as cleaning and medical supplies available or make them available for purchase at their pharmacy drive-through.)

Time for our second installment of Furry Friends of Route 1 – featuring Masha and Ollie of University Park!
As a quick recap, in an attempt to help keep spirits afloat during these socially distant times, we started a Furry Friends of Route 1 series featuring your beloved pets!
Hyattsville’s Erika Nizborski kicked off the series with her furry fam members, Maggie & Pearl. In this latest installment, you get to meet Masha (the cat) and Ollie (perro) of University Park.
Send us your photos to play along, too! 🙂
Parents of school-aged children: Finding yourselves overwhelmed with the number of educational resources you’re seeing out there? (All well-intentioned, of course, but utterly overwhelming.) We know we are. Which is why we breathed a sigh of relief when Marie Thoma of the University of Maryland’s Department of Family Science, School of Public Health reached out to share her colleague’s latest resource with us – a compilation of resources to help families and educators.
We all feel the stress building inside of us. It’s unavoidable right now and generally necessary to the extent that it encourages us to help physically practice safety measures intended to keep us all as healthy as we can be. But these times of social distancing can also have an impact on our mental health. We’re sociable creatures, for the most part 😉 and these times can feel isolating and lonely.
In an attempt to help chip away at those feelings, we’re starting a Furry Friends of Route 1 series featuring your beloved pets! As Rajni put it best: “Pets are doing a lot during these times. Some are getting more love and giving more love, others are getting pissed that they don’t have their space during the daytime!” Let’s have fun meeting new furry friends and their “hoomans.”
