If you’ve stopped by Vigilante Coffee Co. in College Park recently, you may have noticed a pink and green, coffee-drinkin’, skateboarding dinosaur adorning one of the outside walls. (And if you missed this vibrant mural, perhaps add a double espresso to your next order 😉 .)
Pink Dinosaur Mural at Vigilante Coffee
Coffee, skateboading and dinos. These three words about sum up Vigilante Coffee, right? Almost. Add community-focused, environmentally-driven, beautifully decorated, super-duper cool, and even more fancy superlatives to describe their ethically-sourced, specialty coffee and you’re a bit closer to summing up what this award-winning coffee shop means to our local community. But we digress. This post is about Vigilante Coffee’s brand, spankin’ new mural. And who best to tell this story than Chris Vigilante himself. Tell it, Chris.
Coffee, Community, Vibes
“We worked with local Pro skateboarder (Abe Dubin) who’s known as the Orange Man. An interesting character to say the least. He has a very unique skating style and is very creative on and off a skateboard. Abe helped us put on our first Skateboard event in June in the parking lot of our College Park Café. From there, we started talking about collaborating in some way or another and he mentioned that he’d always wanted to do a mural. So I asked him to send me designs he had in mind and he sent us the Pink Dinosaur on Orange skateboards drinking coffee. I thought it was just awesome and so did our team so we worked out a deal with Abe, bought our paint and supplies from local art store Artist & Craftsman Supply in Hyattsville and a few weeks later Abe came out and painted it on our wall.
