Route 1 Grocery Store Update: 3/29

It’s Sunday! (Just in case you weren’t sure. 😉) And it’s Grocery Store Update time! 🙌 Most know the drill by now but just in case: If grocery shopping today, pls stop back here and comment on how inventory looks. Doing so will help friends and neighbors decide where to go = saves time & unnecessary exposure in the time of #coronavirus. Thank you all for yr help! 🙏🏻

Whole Foods Riverdale Station pretty well stocked today. They had chicken, meat, vegetables almost close to normal. However, the canned vegetables aisle is quite depleted and there are no bouillon cubes left. Is bouillon cube the new TP?

Thanks for the insight, Renaud! And is bouillon cube the new TP? That’s a great question to consider for today! 🙂

My comment from yesterday didn’t apparently post. Went to Mom’s and it was generally well stocked, not overly crowded and so not a huge issue with people keeping their distance.

Does anyone have a Trader Joe’s update please?

Went to Lidl in College Park yesterday around 11am and people WERE NOT keeping their distance. If the store is not going to do their part to help enforce this guideline inside the store, then it would be great if Lidl would consider limiting number of entries. It was honestly nervewracking and scary shopping at Lidl yesterday while folks just reached right over without any regard to their (or my own) safety and health.

That’s how I felt about Aldi (Hyattsville) this morning. Went at 8 and there was a line if 20 people out front. An employee said they weren’t going to open until 9. Went back at 9:10 and it was mobbed.
It was impossible to keep even three feet away from anyone in the aisles. The kiebti check out was to the back of the store with no distance between customers other than their carts. Plenty of toilet paper, paper towels. No wipes or hand sanitizer. No PB and few cereal choices, otherwise plenty of food. They have signs up limiting the number of certain food items.

So appears that neither Lidl nor Aldi are doing what they can to support social distancing. Disappointing, especially as they’re two of the more affordable stores for produce and groceries. 🙁
