Explore a new (to you..) playground, like Fairland Regional Park.

Lovely weather this weekend and tons of things to do in our area! Kick the weekend off with a night hike in Laurel with some nocturnal buds, Waterfront Art Festival in Bladensburg, Arts Drop-In at MilkBoy ArtHouse in College Park, Kool Kids Book Launch Party in North Brentwood, explore a new-to-you playground, Storytime in Hyattsville & the Prince George’s County Fair in Upper Marlboro. Storytime PopUp! @ The Waterhole

Prince George’s County Fair (Through Sunday)
Prince George’s County Fair complete with livestock, crafts, music, contests, rides, and much more! Fun for the entire family!

Little Makers
This week we’ll be exploring centrifugal forces (aka painting with salad spinners!). Children work together with their parents/caretakers to craft, create, invent, and explore!

Night Hike (Ages 5+)
When the sun sets, the refuge comes alive with the calls of owls and insects. Learn how to nocturnal animals adaptations allow them to thrive in the darkness.

SATURDAY

Toddler Time @ Art Works Now

The Kool Kids & The Land of the Giants Book Launch Party

Join us to celebrate the release of The Kool Kids And The Land Of The Giants. The Kool Kids are a group of Christian kids that motivate, educate, and Inspire kids, as well as adults to face and defeat the giants that are in their life/land. Giants such as Obesity, Heart Disease, Diabetes, Debt, Depression, etc. There will be food, prizes, giveaways, and lots of fun!

Fairland Regional Park Playground
Here’s a rec for a new playground to explore this weekend! This playground has equipment and structures for wee ones and the 5-12 set (check out cool climbing structure in header pic)! About a 20 minutes drive from East West & Rt. 1. Pack a picnic + blanket and take a stroll through the park afterwards. And…Bring enough wipes for port-a-potty use.

Spanish-English Ready to Read Storytime
Stories, fingerplays and songs will be presented in Spanish and English.

Waterfront Art Festival
The festival will showcase the talent and work of local artists, from painting to sculptures, glass work to jewelry, photography and more! Demonstrations and workshops will delight and inspire, including a kid’s creative space. There’ll also have food trucks, live music (Wild Anacostias play at 4pm) and performances, and river boat tours! Don’t miss the fun!!

Kid Koders (Ages 5-12)
Learn the basics of coding through game-based activities that will challenge creative and logical skills while teaching core concepts of computer science and programming.

Multicultural Festival and Health Fair
International food and crafts for sale. Live international performances.

Bird Walk (Ages 6+)
Enjoy a leisurely bird walk around Cash Lake searching for and identifying multiple species of birds. Walk is weather dependent and begins at the Visitor Center. Water and binoculars recommended.

Arts Drop-in at MilkBoy ArtHouse
College Park Arts Exchange is bringing their classic Arts Drop-In series to MilkBoy ArtHouse! Topic: Mixed Media Sculpture – Make your own Objet d’art. Seating and capacity is limited. Project supplies are provided at no cost, but we encourage you to purchase brunch and support MilkBoy ArtHouse!

Grandparents’ Day Tours – Riversdale House Museum
