Family Fun: Things that go bump in the night!
Many of the animals at Patuxent are active at night and they must navigate to find food in the dark. Learn how they do it, and test your senses with handson activities, games and crafts for all ages. This is a drop-in program — come when you wish and leave when you’re ready.
When: 10am-1pm

Storytime PopUp! @ The Waterhole
Join us for stories, songs, fingerplays and more at this innovation collaboration between PGCMLS & Mt. Rainier’s fabulous organic juice & smoothie joint, The Waterhole. Best for 0-5 years old. Curious? Click here for my review of The Waterhole!

Indian Creek Playground (All Ages)
Any time this weekend, check out this really fun and creative playground designed after Berwyn Heights’ earliest residents – a group of Algonquian people known as Nacotchtank. Kiddos will have a blast climbing teepees, in an out of canoes and up and down dream catchers.

Rollingcrest-Chillum Splash Pool
Maybe you want an indoor option today. Then check out this awesome indoor waterpark, right here in PG! Specialized water play area for pre-schoolers with slides and spray features, family pool with water slides and spray features, a vending area and shower /changing facilities with lockers (lockers are available but require you to bring your own lock). While parts of the facility are dated but the kids always have a blast.

Open Gym at PG Sports & Learning Complex
This place is HUGE. Great for 1-12 years old. Two climbing walls. Two foam pits. Tons of equipment for curious ones to explore and blow off some steam. Very clean. Spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Adults are to be on the floor with the children (Max 3 child:1 adult).
When: 4:30-5:30pm

Mask Making Party
Expose yr kid(dos) to some hands-on, printmaking fun with this mask making party!

Xtreme Teens: Monster Mash; Ages 10-17
Whether you’re singing with the “Crypt-Kicker Five” or doing the “Transylvania Twist,” don’t miss this freakishly good time at the Monster Mash! Wear your Halloween costume and compete to win a $25 gift card for best costume.

American Indian Festival
Celebrate the rich and diverse cultures of Native Americans at the annual “American Indian Festival,” featuring traditional native foods, free activities and interactive exhibits and demonstrations such as archery,

Funkyard Festival
Bring your friends, family and your (friendly, leashed) pets to the Community Forklift warehouse for a celebration of all things reuse in the DC area! Featuring workshops on DIY Repair and Creative Reuse and Kids’ Activities, including helping to recycle a house into hardware and chimes, play some tunes on instruments made from salvaged materials, and be dazzled by the tricks of strolling magician Matt Neufeld (2-5pm)! Food truck, local craft beer available for purchase.

Spanish-English Ready to Read Storytime
Stories, fingerplays and songs will be presented in Spanish and English.

Dinosaur Park
Meet paleontologists, learn about Maryland prehistory, and search an active fossil site for 115 million-year-old remains of dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals! We took the kids here and they loved it! Now – it’s pretty bare bones (pun intended); no amenities – basically an open archaeological site behind some warehouses. But if your kids have adventurous minds and love discovering prehistoric things – then it’s worth a visit. Found some really old bark that apparently was from a tree that was around during the time of the dinosaurs. What?! Said bark now rests lovingly next to kid’s toothbrush….Tip: While you’re in the area, why not also check out the Kids Room at the newly renovated Laurel Public Library. It’s really a gem, y’all!

Calabash Carnage Pumpkin Carving
Celebrate Halloween and have lots of fun at the Brentwood Arts Exchange! Your family is invited to join us for a Pumpkin Carving Workshop. Use your imagination and create your own designs.

Engineering 101 (Ages 7-14)
What is an Engineer? Engineers are people who design and build things to solve specific problems. Learn the basics of engineering through an interactive, hands-on design challenge by creating your own design from drawing to prototype.

Get ready to be spooked by ghastly ghosts and grim goblins on the Haunted trail at Beltsville Community Center. Feel free to wear an appropriate costume.
