Everybody loves birds! Come learn more about our feathered friends and what makes them special through hands-on activities, games and crafts for all ages!

Storytime PopUp! @ The Waterhole

STEM-tastic: Breaker Space (Ages 8-12)
Become a mad scientist by conducting hands-on, fun science experiments using basic scientific principles. Join us as we take apart and rebuild computer parts to learn about how they work.

SATURDAY
Airmail Centennial Celebration
Celebrate with us as we mark the 100th anniversary of the first airmail delivery by the U.S. Postal Service! Participate in engaging hands-on activities for all ages led by numerous museums, community, and aviation partners. Get an up close and personal look at the Curtiss Jenny, and other historic planes flying in for the day. Entertainment and food trucks will be onsite with food and beverage for purchase.

Toddler Time @ Art Works Now

Battle of Bladensburg Encampment
The encampment returns with a bang this year as War of 1812 troops ready the cannon and prepare for battle. Step back into 1814 with an afternoon of hands-on demos, children’s activities, tours, and more! Snacks available for purchase.

SUNDAY
U.S. Airmail Flight Send-Off
Savor the mysterious sense of place and join us to watch the early morning departure of the Curtiss Jenny as it takes off on a reenactment of the historic U.S.P.S. flight one hundred years ago. Enjoy a pancake breakfast with all the fixings, meet pilots who have flown in for the day and learn more about the operational challenges of an airport so close to our Nation’s capital.

Weekly role-playing game
