One of my New Year’s Resolutions is to get movin’ again, plain and simple. Not “get back into shape.” Not “tone up.” Not to get back to pre-baby or pre-whatever weight. Just to get moving again. I have more fun, enjoy life that bit more when I’m moving to some sort of rhythm, which is why I was thrilled when Joe’s Movement Emporium in Mt. Rainier reached out to invite me to check out their new Adult Movement Classes! Their timing was perfect!
From Hip Hop Dance, Caribbean Vibes Cardio, and Salsa to Vinyasa Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Pilates, and Tai Chi – Joe’s has a wide menu of ways to get movin’! I huffed, puffed and occasionally wheezed my way through a number of the classes just so that I could give you the 411 on what to expect. 😊 As you will see in the photos and videos below, the classes were so much fun for all levels, incredibly affordable and a great way to get movin’ on into 2018! (The speaker (🔊) icon signals the classes that I checked out and gives you my take on why you, too, should check it out!)
**Lucky for you, Joe’s is offering Route One Fun readers the chance to try a class of your choice for free! Go here to register for a class, enter code ROUTE1MOVESIT at checkout through May 31st and voila, your class is free! 👏
Before I jump to class descriptions, I want to highlight how affordable these classes are, especially as money is often our bottom line. The Joe’s 10-Class Pass gets you 10 classes for $110 (that’s $11/class)(seniors enjoy $80 rate ($8/class)! You can take 10 of the same classes or mix it up. You can also share your class pass so you can bring a friend, neighbor – whomever you wish to join you for some workout fun! Afraid of commitment? Well, first try the class for free using the discount code above. 😊 Then rest happy knowing the drop-in rate is $13/class (senior drop-in: $10).
Vinyasa Yoga with Brooke Kidd
Nurture the harmony of mind and body – work with alignment and awareness, deep stretching and relaxation for a revitalizing experience.
🔊 This class is p.e.r.f.e.c.t. for those new to or reacquainting themselves to yoga. First off, it’s taught by Brooke Kidd, Executive Director of Joe’s, so you know she knows her stuff! 😉 Secondly, the gentle pace of the class really gave me a chance to stretch – which is something that feels so good and which I really don’t do often enough. Having this class as part of my weekly routine would help make that happen! Thirdly, the class is easy to follow as Brooke incorporates poses familiar to anyone who’s ever heard of yoga, like downward-facing dog, warrior’s pose, and cobra pose and then floats modifications to make the pose easier or to allow you to dig deeper.
