Family March for Black Lives, Hyattsville

6/18/20 9:55pm update – Due to inclement weather forecast for Saturday, March is being postponed to next Saturday, June 27th.

Sharing information on a great local event organized by local momma Sage Morgan Hubbard:

Greetings! My name is Sage and am a local Black/multiracial mom who is organizing this socially distant event this Saturday, June 20th from 10am – 12 pm in Hyattsville (where I have been raised since I was 9 years old and my dad was the first Black man to run for mayor) in celebration of Juneteenth and in response to all that is going on in this world.

Hyattsville Family March for Black Lives

Come join Black, Brown and other mothers, children and families as we march, sing, dance, share poetry and art/ posters together in solidarity and protest the ongoing injustice in the wake of the killings of Ahmaud Arbery in Georgia, Breonna Taylor in Louisville, KY, and George Floyd in Minneapolis and more. We will celebrate our lives and continual fights for freedom and Juneteenth.

Join us in this socially distant family-friendly march for Black Lives. Please wear face masks, stay 6 feet apart and come ready to have your say and leave your mark in Hyattsville’s Magruder Park. There will be masks available for those who do not have them. Please bring water and snacks and stay hydrated and healthy. We will be sharing resources of local Black-owned businesses, artists and activists to support and you can donate your money and signs afterwards for an ongoing art piece at Art Works Now and local campaigns and artists who need your support.

For more information on this event, please visit the event’s Facebook page and/or email Sage at familymarchforblacklives at gmail dot com.
