11:18am update: In case of inclement weather, vigil will be rescheduled.
Many local faith leaders are hosting a vigil for George Floyd this Thursday, June 4th, from 7-7:30pm at the University Christian Church on the corner of Adelphi Road and Belcrest Road in Hyattsville, Maryland. As the registration page notes, the vigil will “make space for prayer, witness, and silence as we stand together for 9 minutes, the length of time former Officer Chauvin applied lethal pressure to Mr. Floyd. We will hear stories of families who have experienced negative encounters with police and invite us to consider concrete actions that can move us toward racial justice.”
