If you’re like me, lining up your kiddo’s dentist appointment is right up there on the list of things you really should do but don’t really want to do. It’s not that you don’t want your child to have healthy teeth (though they do have another set under there; just sayin’ 😉 ); it’s that your child’s first visit to the pediatric dentist is a BIG DEAL so you’re still researching options and a bad visit may have you questioning the need for teeth, rationalizing that pureed food really is better for the digestive tract, anyway. Which is why I’m thrilled to share a few words about our great experience with Dr. Anamelechi at Children’s Choice Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics in New Carrollton.
Children’s Choice Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics
Pediatric dentist Dr. Jonelle Anamelechi and her amazing crew work wonders in a caring and nurturing environment o help you keep your child’s teeth as healthy as can be. The New Carrollton office is about a 15-minute drive from Route One and East-West Highway.
Colorful Decor Welcoming All
This waiting room is bright and airy (as is the entire practice), has a life-sized Tic-Tac-Toe game as well as a bunch of other games to keep the kiddos occupied before their appointment time. Both of mine got busy with TTT and then moved on to using the big building blocks to do their thang.
Kids Love Dental Hygenist Mrs. Jo!
Dental Hygenist Mrs. Jo was amazing. She’s incredibly skilled at making children feel comfortable and her calm demeanor even had me so relaxed with my kids in her care that I almost fell asleep. *Almost* She started off by explaining the process to me and then showing my children each piece of equipment and how it works (all in a light-hearted way). I kind of wished I could have Mrs. Jo accompany us on every medical/dental/school/life appointment from this point forward. I’ll look into that. 😄

Bright, Airy Dental Cleaning Room
I should also point out that the cleaning room is one large, bright, colorful room where the children can see other children similarly there for a visit. For my children, this was a big benefit as there’s comfort in seeing other smiling faces who’ve just done what you’re about to do. And are still alive. 😄

Bright, long room where the cleaning magic happens!
Wiggly Kids

Dr. Anamelechi & her team!
Dr. Anamelechi, Pediatric Dentist Extraordinare!
Kiddos made their way back to the examination chair where Dr. Anamelechi greeted them with a big smile and let them know that she would be taking a look to make sure their teeth were a-ok. As with Mrs. Jo, Dr. Anamelechi took the time to explain what was going to happen and made the kiddos feel comfortable. She also let them know that at the end of the exam, they would receive a balloon AND a token to get a small capsule toy from the nearby toy vending machine! Score!
Superheroes Eat Veggies
Dr. Anamelechi is hosting a children’s event at Whole Foods Market this Saturday, February 24th, 2018, 12-2pm, where she’ll be bringing superheroes to the store to talk about dental education and why superheroes eat veggies & fruit, too! Great opp for your child to meet the dentist and catch a fun event! We’re all really happy with our visit to Children’s Choice Pediatric Dentistry and will definitely be back for our next visit. Which I’ve already scheduled!!! 👏👏👏 As for you, say “no” to analysis paralysis and schedule your kiddo’s appointment with Dr. Anamelechi today. 😊
