Their HyBall (Hyattsville Ball) arts parties / fundraisers are notorious for producing the type of over-the-top fun that makes the morning after full of wonderful recaps, hilarious photo ops and perhaps momentary befuddlement, i.e. Did we really do that?!? It’s time to show your artistic side this summer! Join Brentwood Arts Exchange and Arts on a Roll every second Thursday in May, June, and July for a creative and fun night of art making in a gallery setting with Creative Spirits, a series of art and sip summer events. It doesn’t matter if you can’t draw a straight line or if you are Picasso, our professional instructors will guide you through the process of creating an original piece of art to take home. Each class is $25 and includes: A glass of wine, light refreshments, and all art supplies needed. Come alone or bring friends, everyone 21 and over is invited!
Paint Branch Creek Plays to Standing-Room Only Crowd at Old Parish House!
Paint Branch Creek – featuring musicians Eric Maring, Allison Hughes, Greg Heelan, Patrick Lynch and Arun Ivatury, with lyrics by Eric Olson – is an acoustic musical collaboration rooted firmly in Americana. This past weekend’s performances at the Old Parish House was the band’s “big unveiling of new songs,” according to Eric Olson, PBC’s chief songwriter!
Live Music Fix at the Brentwood Arts Exchange
The Brentwood Arts Exchange (BAE!) wears many hats: It’s a gallery + studio space + craft store + art classes + camp space + live music venue. I had observed the BAE in action in all but the music side of things, so when I was feeling the itch for a show but didn’t want to traipse into DC, I took a look at their lineup and was intrigued by the loop pedal-ing ways of upcoming performer Be Steadwell.
