New maker space opens in North Brentwood
Material Things in North Brentwood is a new maker space by local artists Katie Aldworth, Francisco (Franc) Rosario and Erin Lingle. With a pottery studio, woodworking and metal shop, community space, classroom, CSA and bakery pickup spot – Material Things is a great new addition to the area! Creative Suitland Grand Opening this Weekend
There’s a new arts hub opening in Suitland! Creative Suitland takes an arts-based approach to community development, “includ[ing] existing residents and businesses in defining the cultural and creative spirit of greater Suitland area.” Their grand opening event is this weekend and will feature Thrive Market (with dance and fitness demonstrations, live performance, and natural, handmade local products) as well as performances by Substantial (hip hop artist), Deborah Bond (vocalist), Ni Dembaya African Drum & Dance Ensemble, Black Picasso (poet) and Carolyn Malachi (vocalist).
