Here’s a list of upcoming, local community yard sales where you can get a great variety of gently used kids’ & adults’ clothing, baby items, toys, maternity wear and kids gear for very little or, in the case of HY-Swap, free! Community Yard Sale – Mount Rainier
Over 20 households participating! There will be signs throughout the city (except business district) directing you to treasure troves. Each home will have a flyer that will have a list of all registered addresses that have permits to participate as well as a map on the other side of it for visual reference.
When: Saturday, 10/14/17, 7am-3pm

Cost: No entry fee
Greenbelt Nursery School Yard Sale
Gently used toys, clothing and other household items. This bi-annual yard sale is a fundraising effort with all funds going towards programs for the nursery school kids.
When: Saturday, 10/14/17, 8am-12pm
Where: Greenbelt Community Center Lawn, 15 Crescent Rd, Greenbelt
Cost: No entry fee
University Park Civic Association Fall Yard Sale

HY-Swap
HY-Swap is a community exchange of free infant, children’s and maternity clothing, toys and gear organized by Hyattsville residents. The goal is to share and circulate items in good condition within the community, providing savings for local families and reducing waste. (I love everything about this event. Such a awesome community builder and fabulous threads, too.)
When: Saturday, 10/14/17. Doors open 11am for Hyattsville Families and Friends. General public welcome from 1-3pm

Fall Rummage Sale – University United Methodist Church
Lots of used items at great bargains! Books, electronics, clothes, and more.
When: Friday, 10/20/17, 9am-6pm & Saturday, 10/20/17, 9am-2pm
Where: University United Methodist Church, 3621 Campus Dr, College Park
Cost: No entry fee
Mishkan Torah Rummage Sale
Huge selection of gently used items including clothing, shoes and accessories for men, women and children. Toys and games, housewares and linens, artwork, craft supplies, books for all ages, bric-a-bra and more! Come early for best selection. **Monday is Bag Day where one can fill up a bag for the low price of $5!
When: Sunday, 10/29 & Monday, 10/30/17, 9am-3pm

Can’t make any of these community yard sales but want some recommendations on nearby places to buy some gently used, thrift clothing/toys/gear? Here are my usual spots:
- Value Village Thrift Store in Adephi, 2277 University Blvd, Adelphi
- Salvation Army Family Store, 3300 Kenilworth Ave, Hyattsville (big selection of furniture)
- Goodwill Retail Store, 2200 South Dakota Ave, NE, Washington, DC (super close to the DC Costco)
- Value Village Thrift Store in Silver Spring, 10141 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring (this place is huge! There’s both a Value Village and a Unique Thrift to explore. It’s a bit of a drive but worth it, especially when they’ve got 50% off days (holiday)).

The Greenbelt Nursery School’s Yard Sale is Saturday October 14 from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on the Community Center Lawn. 😀
