Here’s how you can safely support small SoHy businesses this Saturday, May 2nd

Enjoy this post contributed by the SoHy Co-op.

SoHy Shop Small Online Saturday, May 2!

The SoHy Co-op is encouraging small business lovers to support SoHy businesses by shopping small online on May 2. Small businesses make up the heart of the SoHy area and they are all being affected by the COVID pandemic. These businesses rely on support from local shoppers.

SoHy retailers, service providers and restaurants have been mandated to close to help flatten the curve of COVID-19. Events have been canceled. Businesses have been forced to change their models on the fly. During this difficult time, as our businesses shift to online sales or carryout + delivery, we have been buoyed by the support of our Route 1 Corridor friends. Let’s keep that going!

How can you help?

SHOP ONLINE!

Make an online purchase on May 2 (and beyond!) at one, or more, of your favorite local retailers! This could include purchasing a gift card, buying an item from a retail web shop, ordering an adult beverage from one of the area’s craft alcohol producers, or picking up lunch or dinner (or both!) from one of the restaurants.

SPREAD THE WORD!

Tell your friends about your favorite local business, goods or services. Post about them on your social media. Share what makes our local businesses so great!

WRITE A REVIEW!

If you’re not in the position to help financially, you can write a review about your favorite local business. Reviews help businesses get seen! We’ve heard from many business owners that they love (and miss) their customers — let them know the feeling is mutual!

Hyattsville Vacuum Service at 5219 Baltimore Avenue in Hyattsville is open 6 days a week. They are known for vacuum cleaner sales and repairs, but they also stock a wealth of cleaning supplies and last I heard they had toilet paper!

We need our vacuum repaired, so thanks for reminding me about this local business!
