Route 1 Corridor’s Adults’ Weekend Guide

Thursday 

Community Print: I Believe Her
Based on community demand, our presses will be running with posters and postcards that say “I believe her.” Drop in, print with us and take some home!
When: 6-8:30pm
Where: Pyramid Atlantic Art Center, Hyattsville
Cost: $20 suggested donation

Thursday Night Music Series – Swing Set
Eat some good Mediterranean food, support a local Mt. Rainier restaurant and get down with Swing Set, a quintet project led by Dara Grabiner and Joe Atkins of local favorites the Wild Anacostias. Always a fun time and can attest that their falafels, with some special sauce, will make you return for more!
When: 7-9pm
Where: Med Cafe, 3237 Rhode Island Ave, Mt. Rainier
Cost: Free (no cover)

RBG: Presented by the Women’s Bar Association
Join the Women’s Bar Association’s Prince George’s County Chapter for an evening showing the movie RBG: An intimate portrait of an unlikely rock star: Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. 
When: 8pm 
Where: Old Greenbelt Theatre, 129 Centerway, Greenbelt

National Book Month Book Sale 
Come shop over 10,000 books, DVD’s and CD’s. Everything will be under $5 and proceeds will directly benefit literacy and family programs in local public schools. 
When: 11am-8pm

Cost: Free (no entry fee) 
Free Acupuncture Clinic 
In conjunction with the Acupuncturists Without Borders of the National Capital Area.

Zumba Happy Hour
Ease into the weekend with an awesome Zumba class taught by instructor Chantal Ross – who (I can personally attest!) will have you with a smile on your face as you dance the evening away!

The Immigrants 1: What is America to You? 

A leading voice among collegiate ensembles in premiering new works for winds, the 10th anniversary season of the University of Maryland Wind Orchestra, led by Dr. Michael Votta, will feature faculty soloists, world premiere performances and masterworks of the 20th and 21st centuries.

When: 8pm 
Where: The Clarice, College Park 
Cost: $25

FunkYard Festival 
Reuse. Respect. Remix: a celebration of practical + creative reuse, repairs + repurposing, and old homes + local history. Meet historic preservation experts and tradespeople, get antiques advice, and check out DIY demos. Weโ€™ll have artists who create with salvaged materials, live funk music, free face painting, local food and beer, secondhand clothing, a salvage sale, and more!
When: 11am-5pm

Cost: Free!

College Park Day
Join your friends, neighbors and the entire City of College Park community at the 9th Annual College Park Day Festival! We love this festival! Huge bouncy houses, face painting, live music, food and beverages (including the adult kind ๐Ÿ˜‰ for purchase)! Read about our time here!

Samba Dance with Zezeh

International Festival 
Celebrate the diversity that makes our community great with music, dance, food and drink from around the world!

Little Shop of Horrors 
This classic sci-fi musical comedy packs a gleefully witty Mowtown/pop-rock score!

Four Star Combo
High energy, primal 1950’s Rockabilly played without any pretense of modernization or any kind of damn-fool ‘fusion’ of styles.

Sunday 

National Arboretum
Enjoy a day outside! We love spending time, unwinding and going offline at the National Arboretum. Check out our recent visit (and tips!) here.

Community Yoga

Hit & Stay Screening with filmakers Q & A 

HIT & STAY, a new documentary film by Joe Tropea and Skizz Cyzyk tells the story of the Catonsville Nine and those who joined them in protesting the Vietnam War.
