Military Appreciation Humvee
Join our hands-on workshop where you and your child can build a custom wooden humvee to honor all those that have served our country. Tips: (1) Get there early as supplies do run out; (2) These workshops can be loud so if your child is sensitive to noise, plan accordingly.

Greenbelt Observatory Star Party
Explore the heavens with us at Greenbelt Observatory through the telescopes of members of the Astronomical Society of Greenbelt and the Goddard Astronomy Club, and through the observatory’s large telescope with its astronomical video camera. (Weather permitting.)

Watkins Regional Park Playground
This. Place. Is Awesome. Truly awesome Wizard of Oz-themed playground where you literally follow the yellow brick road under a rainbow arch as the Scarecrow shows you the way to your choice of six fun areas: Dorothy’s Farm House, Munchkin Land, the Emerald Forest, the Emerald City of Oz, the Balloon Escape, the Ruby Red Shoes. Playground, nature center and farm are free to explore and enjoy!

Words Beats & Life Festival: Top Notch B-boy & B-girl Competition and Fine Lines Paint Jam
Ok, so this is not near Route 1 but it sounds awesome, is in DC and is free so including in this lineup! Watch as leading b-boys and b-girls from around the country defy the laws of gravity and compete for cash prizes, while legendary DJ’s spin the hottest tracks.

Saturn V Moon Rocket 50th Anniversary Celebation
Celebrate the moon rocket which still remains the most powerful launch vehicle yet to leave the Earth’s atmosphere with this display and launch models of the Saturn V Rocket. A free Saturn V 50th Anniversary Commemorative hand-out, detailing the rocket’s characteristics, will be available
