Thursday Night Music Series at Mt. Rainier’s Med Cafe returns this Thursday! Community Forklift hosts its final First Friday, Daughters of the Dust & ‘All the Stars’ Outdoor Dance Party, Opening Celebration Weekend at Streetcar 82, Opening Receptions for local artist Paul Hrusa at Studio SoHy and an opening reception for WHITEWASH by Sheila Crider at Pyramid Atlantic. And would you believe there’s even more to explore along the Route One Corridor of Prince George’s County this weekend? Well, believe it! 👌

THURSDAY 


Bird Walk at Lake Artemesia

Find many species of birds by sight and song, learning from an experienced guide. All skill levels are welcome. Binoculars recommended. No reservations required. Sponsored by the Prince George’s Audubon Society and the Patuxent Bird Club, a chapter of the Maryland Ornithological Society.

Thursday Night Music Series – Alex Martin Trio
Eat some good Mediterranean food, support a local Mt. Rainier restaurant and get down with the Latin-flavored New World jazz vibes of the Alex Martin Trio! Always a fun time and can attest that their falafels, with some special sauce, will make you return for more! When: 7-9pm

FRIDAY 

Opening Celebration Weekend – Streetcar 82 Brewing Co. 
Streetcar 82 Brewing Co. is proud to announce our opening Celebration! We’re celebrating with food trucks, music, and of course, plenty of beer! Celebrations begin with a ribbon cutting at 4pm on Friday, September 7th, and old time records spun by Hyattsville’s own @Todd Dengel. Saturday and Sunday’s music will be by DJ PULSE. Featured Food Trucks this weekend will be Jammin Flava, Roaming rooster, A Taste of Aloha, and pizza from our neighbor, Pizzeria Paradiso Hyattsville.When: 3-10pm

Opening Reception: WHITEWASH by Sheila Crider
Sheila Crider’s new work explores the nation’s historic relationship with people of color through contemporary abstraction. (Openings here are always welcoming and a great way to see new art while meeting new friends & folks in the neighborhood!)

Opening Reception: Land by Paul Hrusa
Local artist Paul Hrusa opens Studio SoHy’s Fall season with Land, an exhibition of recent paintings that contemplates the mutable horizons of expressive landscape.When:6-9pm

Hip Hop Orchestra
UMD’s very own Hip-Hop Orchestra started as two friends performing on the tables of the University of Maryland’s very own dining hall. Now, with myriad performances under their belts, including two at The Kennedy, HHO takes the Grand Pavilion Stage to kick-off the 2018 NextNOW Fest.

Forklift First Friday

Daughters of the Dust Film Screening
Join us for an evening of ancestral remembrance and Black excellence in film with an outdoor screening and discussion of Julie Dash’s epic independent film Daughters of the Dust.

‘All the Stars’ Outdoor Dance Party
Join us for a dance party under the stars! DJ Stylus spins a special set inspired by motion picture blockbuster The Black Panther and hit single “All the Stars” by Kendrick Lamar + SZA. It will be Afrofuturistic vibes all night across a span of genres for the rest of the night.
When: 10pm-2am
