The Green Team is gearing up for a Solar Party and you are invited. There were be several solar vendors there to explain what they do and how you can go solar. This event is not just for homeowners with no trees, some of the options are geared towards renters or shaded houses.

Thursday Night Music Series with Alex Martin Trio

Opening Reception: Hard and Soft
Join us for the opening reception of HARD AND SOFT! This exhibition explores work that pushes the tactile quality of materials. Combined, the work of Thea Gregorius, Allen Linder, Michael Enn Sirvet, and Tim Tate questions notions of soft (ornamental, safe, feminine) and hard (resolute, unwavering, masculine) while it explores the relationships between sculpture and paper.When: 6-9pm

Daughters of the Dust Film Screening
Join us for an evening of ancestral remembrance and Black excellence in film with an outdoor screening and discussion of Julie Dash’s epic independent film Daughters of the Dust. Pre-screening lecture on the Gullah will begin at 7:30PM, followed by film screening.When: 7-10pm

HY-Swap
Hy-Swap is a community exchange of free infant, children’s and maternity clothing, toys and gear organized by Hyattsville residents. The goal is to share and circulate items in good condition within the community, providing savings for local families and reducing waste. (I love everything about this event. Such a awesome community builder and fabulous threads, too.)

This year, leave your costume home, and bring your inner artist activist! Be prepared to be FIRED UP and READY TO GO! While we raise money for Art Works’ programs, we’ll also be raising awareness and raising our voices! Come prepared to eat, drink, dance, bid, and make some activist art! We’ll be dancing to the AWESOME blues band, The Smokin’ Polecats while enjoying food and beverages from Brookland’s Finest, Right Proper, Moreland’s Tavern, Taqueria del Barrio, Pizzeria Paradiso, DC Brau, Free Run Wine Merchants, and award winning Centrolina!
StonyFIELD Day at Magruder Park!
FREE BBQ, music, games and yogurt! (Yes, you read that correctly.) We’re celebrating because Hyattsville has been awarded a grant from Stonyfield Farm to begin doing organic field management. That means Hyattsville will be using soil-based fertilizers without harmful pesticides to care for Magruder Park. StonyFIELD Day’s activities will include crafts, games, face painting, and a special live performance from the Jimi Smooth Band! Read Route One Fun’s post about StonyFIELD Day here!

Fall Crafting – Stained Glass Objects
Bring your own glass bottles or jars and we’ll create beautiful stained glass objects using your own creativity. Take what some might consider trash and create personalized gifts for the holidays!
