Montgomery County Fair 2019

Montgomery County Fair is this weekend!

Where Kids Play Along the Route 1 Corridor this Weekend: Kids will have a blast making their way through a Parkour Course in College Park, Drum and Dance Class in Mount Rainier, Nerf-themed Fun in Hyattsville, Open Gym in Landover, Montgomery County Fair & more! 

Friday

Hercules and Hippolyta (All Ages)
A musical adventure about the true nature of heroism told through the story of history’s first superheroes. Two fantastical showtimes to catch this one!
When: 10-11am, 2:15-3:15pm
Where: Greenbelt Community Center, Greenbelt
Cost: Free!

Ready to Read Storytime Pop-Up (Ages 0-5)
A perfect neighborhood outing. Entertainment with library staff, fresh juices, and toys. Say hello to the weekly regulars! Read our review here
When: 10-10:30am
Where: The Waterhole, Mount Rainier
Cost: Free!

Gymnastics Workshops (Ages walking to 12)
Wonder why your kid’s still hyper, but it’s Friday? Let it go! 🙂 Bring them to the sports complex. Let them bounce in the open gym. Grab dinner at nearby Wegman’s afterwards. A well worth it trip! Review here
When: 6-7pm
Where: Prince George’s Sports & Learning Complex, Landover |

CPAE Summer Youth Musicals: Shrek Jr! & Many Moons (All Ages)
A spin on the classical Shrek plus an original play about blue poodles and royalty? You don’t want to miss this song and dance-filled production. Local youth talent at its best!
When: 6:30-9pm
Where: St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, College Park
Cost: Free!, donations to support College Park Arts Exchange appreciated

Saturday

JCPenny Kid Zone 
A little side distraction while you’re shopping! 😉 Kids can build their own Nerf target board, test out Nerf merchandise, and take home a Nerf-themed activity kit. Parents receive extra-savings coupons!
When: 11am-12pm
Where: The Mall at Prince Georges, Hyattsville |
Cost: Free!

STEM for Families: Stomp Rocket – What Goes Up (Ages 5-12)
Get the whole family engaged in out of this world STEM fun. Learn about rocket flight and launch speed using Stomp Rockets, with air power!
When: 11am-12pm
Where: Upper Marlboro Library, Upper Marlboro
Cost: Free!

Parkour in the Parks (Ages 8-17)
What kid doesn’t love to climb, jump, maybe vault objects? LOL. Certified instructor will teach them new tricks. Your kids will be traversing the obstacle course in no time. Adult companions (for under 16) take part – no extra charge!
When: 1-2:30pm
Where: College Park Community Center, College Park
Cost: $5

Malik DOPE Drummer’s WAE-Work Drum & Dance Class Kickoff (Ages 9-12)
Freestyle drumming and dance moves to a beat. Bring your own drum pad and stand (or borrow) and light snacks. Jam session in the evening! First class ever!
When: 4-5:30pm
Where: Joe’s Movement Emporium, Mount Rainier
Cost: Free!

Sunday

Day at the Beach! – Annapolis (All Ages)
This hits the spot for a day trip. Kids swim or just play in the sand. Adults watch cars battle Bay Bridge traffic. Hehe. Playground and snack bar on site. Pack an umbrella and picnic. You’ll feel like you’re on a retreat! Read our review of Sandy Point State Park here
When: 7am-Sunset
Where: Sandy Point State Park, Annapolis
Cost: $5 per adult, kids in car/booster seats free!

Watermen’s Appreciation Day (All Ages)
Bay-themed fun for everyone. Live music, boat rides, family activities, and steamed crabs! (you’re in MD, ya’ll!). Boat docking contest. Sounds like a regal waterfront event!
When: 10am-4pm
Where: Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, St. Michaels
Cost: $6-$18

Montgomery County Fair (All Ages)
Feed your senses at the annual agricultural fair. Celebrate animals and plants. Check out contests, enter some of your own! Or just take it the sites and smells of carnival food and rides. So much to check out at the Fairgrounds!
When: 11am-11pm
Where: Montgomery County Ag Fair, Gaithersburg
Cost: See prices here, age 11 and under free!

Family Movie Nights (All Ages)
Watch “Learning To See The World Of Insects” on the Plaza screen. Bring chairs and picnic or order food at one of the many nearby eateries. Relax!
When: 6-8pm
Where: National Harbor, Fort Washington
Cost: Free!
