Community Forklift announces they are hosting their 11th annual Spring Garden Party on Saturday, April 4, from 10am to 3pm.

Now in its 11th year, the Garden Party has become a metro wide tradition, drawing gardeners, farmers, designers, homeowners, and families from across the region. It marks the return of spring and celebrates the start of the gardening season. Each winter, the nonprofit collects donations of gently-used and surplus garden and landscaping supplies and decor, then makes the items available to the public during the event for 30% – 70% below retail prices.

A bit like Black Friday for gardeners, the warehouse opens at 9am, and shoppers line up even earlier, eager to dig through piles of gently-used gardening tools, outdoor furniture, bricks, and planters. The first in line can find gems, but late risers should not worry – the sales floor will be restocked throughout the day.

This annual festival also includes gardening and sustainability experts; vendors offering seeds, seedlings, and other homemade garden goodies; and workshops on topics like home composting and beekeeping. There is entertainment for all ages, including crafts, a free face-painter, music, and local food.

Attendees are encouraged to wear seersucker suits, fancy hats, frilly dresses, and other garden party finery, as it has become a regular part of this cherished community party.

Proceeds from the sale support our mission to create green jobs, reduce waste, educate the public about reuse, and provide free home improvement supplies to nonprofits and neighbors in need.  Event sponsorship information is available by emailing: barbara@CommunityForklift.org
