Written by Hyattsville resident Jennifer Mendenhall and based on a local Prince George’s County story, #poolparty sheds light on an unexpected invitation that launches the family into motion: the discovery of historical documents at a private swim club leads to a reckoning with the past. In a myth-busting demonstration of the fallacy of race, they flip from role to role β across type, time, and space β exposing the fatal consequences of racial prejudice: How can you breathe when your head is always under water? β

If you haven’t heard these dudes play their amazing, soulful instruments yet, then you need to do so (we did so last time and they were great)! Originally composed of just five music majors from Howard University trying to raise money for tuition during the Christmas season, they’ve grown to eight members and are FANTASTIC!

The Adelphi Pool is opening its doors to non-member friends and neighbors with the ONLY open house of the summer! A family can swim all day for $20 (go to link for coupon). Cheese on Wheels Food Truck and Maui Wowi (shaved ice) will be selling their food/drinks from 11am – 4pm. *We go to the Adelphi Pool & love it.
