Right outside of 2Fifty Texas BBQ is a beautiful, vibrant mural created by Riverdale Park’s own Tanglewood Sue. Debby Portillo & Fernando Gonzalez, owners of the critically-acclaimed restaurant in Riverdale Park, commissioned Sue to create a mural celebrating “where we come from, where we are and where we want to be.”
2Fifty Texas BBQ’s New Mural
Incorporating the art and flowers from places held near and dear to Debby and Fernando, the mural features:
- Maryland’s Black-Eyed Susans;
- El Salvador’s Flor de Izote;
- Washington, DC’s Cherry Blossoms;
- Blue Bonnet’s for Texas; and
- Virginia’s beautiful Dogwoods.
In describing the mural, Sue shared: “I hope this piece brings joy to the commissioners of the work, those devouring some amazing BBQ, MARC train riders, visitors and to the many residents here in Riverdale Park. Enjoy the color and story of all the flowers and the homage to Fernando and Debbie their world travels, their support for the ARTS and world class BBQ. ”
Many thanks to 2Fifty Texas and Tanglewood Sue for sharing this beautiful, colorful artwork with out local communities. And while it’s Sue’s first public mural, we’re certainly hoping it won’t be her last.
