Please join Justice Arts Coalition as we team up with Red Dirt Studio on Sunday for this festive card-making event.
We want to be sure all of the incarcerated artists in our network know we’re thinking of them this holiday season. Receiving handmade cards will mean a lot to these folks. We have markers, colored pencils, cards and more… join us to draw, color, write and collaborate. Any art supplies you’d like to bring will be appreciated, as well!
Stop in to make a card or two, learn more about Justice Arts Coalition’s work, and enjoy good company, coffee and bagels.
Bring the whole family!

Quilling
by Lousk, created while incarcerated at a youth detention center in Oregon
Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is rolled, looped, curled, twisted and otherwise manipulated to create shapes which make up designs to decorate greetings cards, pictures, boxes, eggs, and to make models, jewelry, mobiles etc. Quilling starts with rolling a strip of paper into a coil and then pinching the coil into shapes that can be glued together.

The Justice Arts Coalition
The JAC represents a consortium of artists and arts organizations active and working at the intersection of the arts and justice, committed to building a space for information, resources, and exchange.
Since 2008, our website has served as an online platform for the network of people making art in and around the criminal legal system and those who are interested to learn more about this sector. Through this site and our expanding work in the field, we strive to:
1) promote opportunities for creative expression in prison and the work of system-impacted artists,
2) improve communication across the sector,
3) share resources and news, and
4) build partnerships to enable greater collaboration.
