While we were pretty disappointed that the Cash Lake Trail did not actually lead to any cash 🤣, we still highly recommend this mainly flat, 2-miles or so hike that begins at the Patuxent Research Refuge Visitors Center in Laurel.
Route 1 Kids Weekend Guide: March 13th-IDK
We had our weekend guides all set to go. We really did. You know we love this stuff! Given the need, however, for all of us to collectively do what we can to help flatten the curve and slow the spread of the coronavirus, we’re not publishing the guides this weekend. Or next weekend. Pretty much not until it’s safe and responsible to return to doing so.
Don’t think we’ll leave you high and dry though! We’ll have Radiohead on repeat (interspersed begrudgingly with the Frozen 2 soundtrack) as we create and share helpful, fun and interesting Route 1-relevant content for you and yours during these extraordinary times.
Speaking of, check out this latest post for a great list of local, uncrowded, outdoor, open spaces where you can go for a break from the indoors!
Check it Out: Local Fun! Patuxent Research Refuge
Me and the little lady stopped by the Patuxent Research Refuge in Laurel earlier this week for one of their free Tiny Tots programs. The program is described as a way for “children to learn about wildlife at the refuge through fun and interactive songs and rhyming.” After gathering in a semi-circle, instructor Ms. Diana Ogilvie kicked things off with some purdy fascinating facts about birds. Afterwards, we headed outside to collect more sticks and catch some sunbeams on the Refuge on a wonderfully, sunny day.
