What will you get when you drop off a bag full of your gently used items to Mt. Rainier Elementary School‘s (MRE) parking lot on Saturday, April 28th from 9am – 1pm (or earlier on in the week via option noted below)? You’ll get the awesome feeling (and likely a round of high-fives) knowing that you just brought the school one bag closer to raising much needed funds for student activities and programs! Heck, make it 6 bags and you’ll be floating on air all weekend! 🙂
This eager MRE student is already sorting through his donation contenders! |
What’s this about? Mt. Rainier Elementary PTO is running a “FUNDrive” where they are collecting donations of gently used goods from our local communities which will then be delivered to a local Savers store, like Value Village, who will then weigh the total goods and provide a payment to the PTO for these donations. This payment will go towards helping to support activities and programs for students at MRE! Donations are indeed tax deductible.
Is this just for MRE Students and Families? Nope! You do not need to have a student at MRE to participate; just being the awesome person that you are is enough (well, that and some bags full of goods to donate)! Though if you are an MRE student, know that the grade that brings in the most donated bags wins a pizza party from the PTO!
How Many Bags May I Donate? The PTO’s goal is to raise $1,000 by donating 400, 13 gallon kitchen bags to Value Village. See here for a list of acceptable items. BRING AS MANY BAGS OF DONATED GOODS AS POSSIBLE! You will make MRE student Ani so happy. And really, the world is just such a happier place when this lady smiles!
When & Where Can I Drop Off My Bags of Donations?
- April 21st-27th: Bring your bagged items to porch drop off at 4205 30th Street (local parents graciously provided the porch as this drop-off spot); &
- April 28th, 9am-1pm: Bring your bagged items to drop off at Mt. Rainier Elementary School (4011 32nd Street, Mt. Rainier)! Rain or shine!

Thank you for supporting us, Route One Fun! We are very excited this is the week of our event! We hope to receive many donations and know that your help is making a difference.
Incidentally, the Fundrive coincides with GreenUp CleanUp and a host of other green activities taking place to honor spring and Earth Day.
Way to go in making a difference this month for Mother Earth 🙂
