Four new and creative classes for Kids 6 – 12 at Joe’s Movement Emporium this January!
Joe’s Movement Emporium‘s Creative Saturdays program in Mount Rainier, Maryland, is a bright, new way to encourage and inspire your 6 – 12 year old child’s creative side under the guidance of a talented local artist – all without breaking the bank (just $10/class per child)! 👏 With different classes offered each week, Creative Saturdays at Joe’s will have DC-area kids stepping, West African drumming, Peruvian Art-ing and happily MJ-ing their way through the month of January! First class starts January 5th so register today!

Art with Clara Majors: January 5th from 1 – 3pm
Beloved Joe’s art teachers Clara Majors brings visual and performing arts training and traditions from her home country of Peru to this week’s Creative Saturday event. Clara’s passion for upcycling finds beauty in the most mundane. Old CDs, styrofoam trays, odd buttons, and scraps of wood are transformed into something magical under Clara’s direction! This class may get messy – so dress accordingly!

Drum Circle with Soul in Motion: January 12th from 1 – 3pm
Experience the rich culture of West Africa with this treasured DC dance company. Soul in Motion provides instruments that are accessible even to the teeniest drummers. Your child will be swept up in the colorful costumes, spirited movements, and energetic drumming rhythms of this expert ensemble. The sense of connection and belonging that comes from a session of drumming together is inspiring for all ages.

Family Rhythms with James Fleet: January 19th from 1 – 3pm
Popular Club Joe’s Aftercare instructor James Fleet introduces children to the precise rhythmic and percussive movement of Step. Stepping is based on a long and rich tradition in African-based communities that use movement, words, and sounds to communicate allegiance to a group. Dress prepared to move!

The MJ Experience with Rakeem Delwin: January 26th from 1 – 3pm
There is nothing kids at Joe’s love more than watching Rakeem Delwin perform his famous Michael Jackson routine. Kids will love learning the smooth moves from King of Pop. It’s highly encouraged to dress in homage to Michael Jackson with a single white glove, skinny pants, shiny shoes, and fedoras!
