James Webb Space Telescope: Art + Science
In November 2016, 25 artists were selected from around the country to visit NASA Goddard and see the James Webb Space Telescope. The artists, representing a broad range of mediums and styles, were inspired to interpret the Webb through their art. The resulting exhibit includes watercolors, 3-D-printed sculpture, silk screening, traditional Japanese art, jewelry, tattooing, poetry, song and more!

Opening Reception: Rub the Oils and Strew the Powders
On display will be copies of illustrations from 17th, 18th and 19th century “herbals,” instructional books on identifying and using herbs in medicine and cooking. The colors in these ancient prints are still vibrant, the lines graceful and elegant, and the shading almost 3-D in its effect. Boundaries – A One Day Video Art Exhibition
Boundaries is a pop-up, single day exhibition of video art and installation, Boundaries investigates identities and conditions that emerge as a result of fluid spaces that are geographic, political, and even metaphysical. The environments in these videos are created via perspectives within global communities, and “boundaries” is a term indicative of both the real and constructed nature of spaces that affect our external as well as internal experience.

Our in-house upholsterer, Phyllis, will show you how to find good fabric, how to align a pattern and how to fasten clean corners.
