Playground at University Hills Duck Pond Park (All Ages)
Pack a picnic, check out the duck pond and then have fun at 1 of the 3 playgrounds at this park! There’s one right at the entrance off of Wells Blvd but if you wander a bit on the bike path you’ll find there’s an even bigger one just down to the right with structures for the toddler and 5-12 crew. Hyattsville’s Summer Jam Series (w/ The Roustabouts)!
We love Summer Jam! Live music, food, beer/wine, kids frolicking around, parents earnestly attempting however disjointed conversations with friends and neighbors. Includes moonbounce and kids’ activities, too! Can also check out Hyattsville’s Micro Farmers Market!

Children’s Beginner Tree Walk
Come enjoy a walk on a trail as we begin to identify trees. Meet at the Ranger Station at 9:00 a.m.When: 9-9:45am

Pollinator Festival
Celebrate the magnificent pollinators of North America. See biologist and volunteers tag monarch butterflies. Discover how domestic and native bees sustain your environment, take home free milk-weed seeds or plants (supplies limited), join in a guided nature walk.

Toddler Time @ Art Works Now
Open studio time for toddlers and their accompanying adults. Even the youngest children can explore a variety of age-appropriate art materials in a safe, fun environment. What to expect? Read my review of Toddler Time at Art Works Now.

Hyattsville Arts & Ales Festival
Stay with me…There’ll be a lot of kids’ activities and performers at this festival, including activities from Art Works Now, Joe’s Movement Emporium, Maryland Milestones, Capoeira, more. Now in its 10th year, enjoy over 100 exhibiting artists and artisans, Maryland breweries, food trucks and vendors, and live entertainment, block by block in Downtown Hyattsville.
When: 12-6pm
Where: 3 streets of downtown Hyattsville (Farragut & Gallatin near Franklin’s Brewery)

Owl Eyes

Lake Artemesia
Get outside and go for a stroll or a bike ride or a slow but enjoyable crawl along lovely Lake Artemesia! Last time we went, spotted some turtles, frogs, ducks & birds of all stripes, beautiful lilipads & more!

Take a Hike! Tree canopies make being outside much more bearable, so head to a nearby park and go for a hike! We’ve enjoyed taking hikes at Greenbelt park *Note: As with any hike, make sure to check for ticks during and after your hike! 🙂

Riversdale House Museum – Free!
Great opp to explore this local museum and its beautiful grounds – for free! Riversdale is joining museums across the country to open its doors for FREE during this annual event.

Indian Creek Playground (All Ages)
Any time this weekend, check out this really fun and creative playground designed after Berwyn Heights’ earliest residents – a group of Algonquian people known as Nacotchtank.
