Storytime PopUp! @ The Waterhole
Join us for stories, songs, fingerplays and more at this innovation collaboration between PGCMLS & Mt. Rainier's fabulous organic juice & smoothie joint, The Waterhole. Best for 0-5 years old. Curious? Click here for my review of The Waterhole!

Anacostia Riverwalk Trail - Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens
Get outside! Head to Bladensburg Waterfront Park (BWP) and explore the 4-mile segment of the Trail connecting the District with BWP! We packed lunches, parked at BWP and then walked the Trail all the way to Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens. It was lovely! Grab a bit of respite at Kenilworth, maybe eat that lunch you packed and then head back to BWP, where the kids can play/climb/laugh in an old B & O caboose.

Crafternoon: Hispanic Heritage Month
Join us for an afternoon of making castanets and papales picado. Families welcome!

Stories, fingerplays and songs will be presented in Spanish and English.

Mt. Rainier Nature Center
Check out some hands-on exhibits, live animals, educational displays, a play area and more at this fun, free, petite, local site. For a sneak peek, read about our time here! (Tip: Build in some time to check out The Waterhole (organic juice) in Mount Rainier as well as time to play at the adjacent playground! ** Route One Fun reader Megan shared a tip: If you go around feeding time (11:45/12), you might catch them feeding the creatures/animals!

Coding: KidKoders
Learn coding basics with game-based activities that will challenge skills while teaching core concepts of computer science and programming.  Limit 14. Register here.

Raptors Reign
Join special guest and licensed falconer, Rodney Stotts, as he shares the power of nature through discussions and up close encounters with birds of prey. This is a drop-in program = no registration required. (We've done this before and consider it a cool opp to see a huge owl up close and then head outside to explore the Patuxent Research Refuge. Pack a picnic! (No food allowed indoors but plenty of space to eat outside; note that there are no garbage cans on site so plan accordingly.)
When: 1-3pm

Watkins Regional Park Playground
This. Place. Is Awesome. Truly awesome Wizard of Oz-themed playground where you literally follow the yellow brick road under a rainbow arch as the Scarecrow shows you the way through this amazing playground! Read about our experience here!

Indian Creek Playground
Any time this weekend, check out this really fun and creative playground designed after Berwyn Heights' earliest residents - a group of Algonquian people known as Nacotchtank. Kiddos will have a blast climbing teepees, in an out of canoes and up and down dream catchers.
When: Sunrise to sunset
Where: 8900 56th Avenue, Berwyn Heights

Riding Bicycles to Experience Patuxent Research Refuge's North Tract (Ages 10+)
Enjoy an early fall bicycle ride while experiencing the beauty of this natural area's wildlife, plants and historical sites. 12-mile guided bicycle ride. Bring your own bike, snack, water bottle and helmet. 
When: 1-3:30pm 
Where: Patuxent Research Refuge, North Tract, 230 Bald Eagle Drive, Laurel
