Storytime PopUp! @ The Waterhole
Join us for stories, songs, fingerplays and more at this innovation collaboration between PGCMLS & Mt. Rainier’s fabulous organic juice & smoothie joint, The Waterhole. Best for 0-5 years old. Curious? Click here for my review of The Waterhole!

Smaland at College Park’s Ikea
Kids play in indoor playground while yo enjoy some shopping or just relax/eat/peoplewatch at the restaurant upstairs. Kiddos must be potty trained and be 37” to 54” tall (so children typically b/w ages of 3-6). Tips: (1) Best to arrive earlier on in the day as day progresses, so do the entrances lines; & (2) Join Ikea Family & kids get extra 30 minutes to play (depending on capacity) & you get free mildly-decent coffee!

Rollingcrest’s Indoor Splash Playground! (All Ages)
Great for kids of all ages! Specialized water play area with slides and spray features, family pool with water slides and spray features, a vending area and shower /changing facilities with lockers (lockers are available but require you to bring your own lock). While parts of the facility are dated, kids always have a blast.

Toddler Time @ Art Works Now

Bibliobop Dance Party
Calling all Preschoolers and Toddlers! Come and bust a move and shake your sillies out at the Greenbelt Bibliobop Dance Party. Bring your parents or caregivers and prepare to boogie and bop until we all drop!

Leap, Jump & Jam

African Folktales with Janice Greene, the Griot
Enjoy master storyteller Janice the Griot as she brings African folktales to life with song, movement, and audience participation. Delightful show for the whole family!

Unsung Heroes (Ages 5-12)

Meet two of North America’s smallest birds of prey: the American kestrel and eastern screech owl. Both expert hunters, the American kestrel uses its acrobatic prowess, while the eastern screech owlis a stealthy silent hunter.

Gametime @ Board & Brew
Board & Brew is a fun place to check out with your 5+year-old crowd. With over 500 board games including Operation, Perfection, Hungry Hippos, etc., you’ll easily have a good time!  Speaking of eating up, they also have a good menu of kid-friendly options. And for my fellow coffee afficionados, they rotate between Vigilante, Mad Cap and Counter Culture coffee – so you’ll be sure to get a tasty, quality brew while you’re there!

Owl Pellets Ages 7-12

Queen Things: Self Care & Hair Care for Teen Girls (Teen Girls in 10th-12th grade)

“Queen Things” is a workshop designed to teach young women meaningful and impactful ways to understand the power of self-love. Through healthy dialogue, literature exploration, and interactive sessions, each girl will be equipped with how to care for both their external and internal beauty.

Rise + Rhyme Featuring Drum Lady (Ages 0-5)
This fun storytelling and performance series features different performers every week who put on a show designed to “teac[h] children to engage with their community, learn to love performing and become a rising activist!”  Enjoy a coffee and/or some food while your lil one boogies on down! President’s Day Volunteer Event 
Volunteers are needed for a service-learning event on President’s Day February 19, 2018 to protect trees from beavers and invasive species in Buddy Attick Park. Be a part of the community effort to protect trees from beaver herbivory and invasive species.

Boy Scout Chili Supper
Stop by for the Boy Scout Troop 214 annual Chili Supper! Variety of chilis (inc. meaty, veggie, spicy, etc.), homemade cornbread, dessert, salad and a beverage. All proceeds help support Troop 214’s activities throughout the year.
When: 5-7pm
Where: Elks Lodge, 6700 Kenilworth Ave, Riverdale
Cost: $8 (free admission for children under 5 & for all Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts & Scout leaders who are in uniform).
