Summer is here – and this year, it’s longer than ever!  Time to start thinking about summer camps in and around our awesome DC Metro area.  Below is a list of day camps, camps for preschoolers, camps for high-schoolers and all your in-between-ers!

Description: Welcome to the Summer of Freedom at our new home located at 4800 Rhode Island Avenue, in Hyattsville, Maryland! We’re so excited to welcome your family to our new and beautiful art studios, gallery, and outdoor play space which comes complete with an Imagination Playground. Through the creation of artwork, singing songs, creating performances, and outdoor exploration, our campers will be introduced to the essential building blocks of freedom, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the ABC’s of Activism.

Description: Discover a world where your child can create fun art projects that expand their imagination, express their creativity and sharpen their learning skills. Each camp will pursue a variety of artistic media integrated with such themes as fantasy, animals, nature and adventure. New projects are offered each session, so come for one camp or the whole summer! A visit to a swimming pool and a punch and cookies reception/exhibition round out each exciting camp.  All materials included!

Description: Six different weekly camps to keep your children active and engaged this summer! From Sports Camp (basketball, soccer, volleyball, lacrosse, and more!), Photography Camp (experience with digital DSLR photography), Band Camp (week-long performance camp featuring sectional and full band rehearsals), Volleyball & Basketball Camps (develop the skills to become confident players in a competitive environment), & Horn Choir Camp, we’ve got it all!  Campers must bring their own lunch.

Description: A Balanced Blend of Learning, Creativity & Fun! Each week, your child will be immersed in an integrated STEM learning experience with a certified teacher, coaches and mentors who have a genuine passion for inspiring the next generation. We engage tech-saavy, inquisitive kids through the use of Mac/PC laptops, Arduino software, Makerspace, scientific lab environments, LEGO Mindstorms robotics, computer-aided and video game design & engineering design principles. Average student-to-staff ratio is 7:1. Daily outdoor recreational, team-based activities. Daily team and character-building activities. Opportunities for personalized, one-on-one time for each camper. Educational field trips that emphasize real-world math and science concepts.

Description: Back by popular demand, this summer we’re holding Global Storytelling Summer Camps in the Mt. Rainier, MD​ area for ages 5-13. Campers become global citizens and create animated storybooks.  Give your child a trip around the world without leaving Washington, DC.  Your child will: Learn about and be exposed to countries and cultures and people from new cultures; Participate in projects promoting social justice, empowerment, and multi-culturalism; Take field trips to museums, Embassies, and other iconic locations in the Washington, DC area; Create his/her own digital storybook and become a published author; Develop storytelling and applied writing and reading skills; Develop STEM programming and app-making logic skills; Learn about illustration and graphic design; Visit computer, virtual reality and 3-d printing labs; Make new friends from different countries; Build empathy, empowerment, confidence and social interaction skills; Build life-skills, confidence measures and tools to help with trauma and negative experiences; Learn about cultures; Enjoy time outdoors and physical fitness activities; Receive a Global Sleepover Global Citizenship badge. We are excited to have teachers this year coming from countries such as Colombia, South Africa, India and the region of North Africa. All our teachers are certified teachers and in Global Sleepover teaching methods and approaches.

Description: Features 10 one-week sessions of arts and crafts, field trips, games and swimming. Choose from The Art Garage (creating artwork from found, reusable and recycled objects), Journey to the Middle East (folk tales, crafts, music and dance transport us to a land far away!) to Just Off Broadway & more!  Most sessions include a trip to Adelphi Pool.

Description: Each week offers a different program theme, but all weeks include daily adventures in creative play with dress up clothes, musical instruments, beautiful arts and crafts projects, easel painting, duplo train building, cardboard construction forts and a fabulous Water Wednesday (outdoor water play with a slice of watermelon at pick-up time)!  Choose a full-week option or single day passes, whichever works best for your child and your schedule. Children bring their own snack for mid-morning read-a-loud story-time. All children need to be potty-trained to attend.

Description: A world of arts awaits your child at Joe’s Movement Emporium this summer. Camp Joe’s – A Connected World: Movement, Art and Science provides the set for experiential learning at it’s best! From creative movement to creative robotics, Joe’s camps have it all. Sign up for a week or for a full summer of fun in the largest, independent performing arts center in Prince George’s County. Our Maryland State Certified arts education staff provide a safe learning environment where we nourish empathy and creativity through the arts. Your child will blossom in Mt. Rainier, MD this summer at Camp Joe’s.

Description: Let’s get ready to rock out with Just Rock’s 2017 Summer Camp! We will conduct weekly camps where students will get a chance to immerse themselves in musical training. We will specialize in voice, piano, guitar, drums, bass, woodwind instruments and stage choreography. Music Mashup Showcase will highlight each musician and genre at the end of each summer camp.

Description: This creative arts camp engages children in music, art and movement. It encourages campers’ artistic expression and supports academic growth such as reading through the arts. The week culminates in a mini-musical production to showcase their work. Private piano, violin and voice lessons can be arranged during before/aftercare for an additional cost.

Description: Peace Camp provides children with the opportunity to explore cooperation and conflict resolution in safe and supportive environments. This year, our theme is: “Peace in Myself; Peace in the World,” as we teach our campers the skills needed to deal with their problems in a peaceful manner and encourage them to create solutions to the problems they see in the world. Activities include cooperative games, art, yoga, special guest presentations and more!

Description: Dive into 200 year of history with activities, crafts, games, cooking and more while exploring the museum and the histories of the families who called Riversdale home.

Description: Students are invited to learn a new language as  they explore science and engineering themes this summer! Join for two exciting weeks of active, hands-on learning in French or Spanish. TerpsTalk teachers will bring language and culture alive through a Science in Our World curriculum. This summer enrichment program, led by the National Foreign Language Center, will use best practices to engage and improve the language skills of beginning and intermediate level learners.

Description:  Join the Redskins family this summer with one of their amazing dance, cheer, or intensive one-day training camps! The Redskins Cheerleaders Youth Camps are ideal for children 6 to16-years of age who are ready to learn and develop as dancers and cheerleaders directly from the pros. Participants will be grouped by age and learn new techniques, be challenged, and be immersed in an action-packed summer.

Description: Learn to row or improve your rowing with a week rowing small boats! All skill levels welcome. Activities will include rowing, exploring the Anacostia River and learning the disciplines of crew.
