Forklift First Fridays!
Join in this official kick-off of the First Friday season!  Music, pop-up market, local art, food and craft beer & wine. Family-friendly (we’ve brought the kids before!), fun way to kick off the weekend and indulge in some live music, peruse cool artwork and hang with new buds!

Check out the College Park Academy’s Canaan Dancers at this weekly outdoor performance series featuring local musicians and visual arts performers! Go support the vision of a sustainable, walkable, vibrant top-20 college town!

Rivers to Rockets Bike Rally Scavenger Hunt! 

Check out this awesomely fun way to explore the history, art, culture, and natural resources of the Maryland Milestones /Anacostia Trails Heritage Area by going on a SCAVENGER HUNT! When you arrive for the rally, you’ll be given a list of hints and checkpoints.  Some you’ll have to take a post pictures of on social media (#rivers2rockets), others you’ll need to perform a silly talk to earn a point and learn about our partner sites. 

When: 10:30 am until you’re done!
Where: Leaving from Maryland Milestones Heritage Center, 4310 Gallatin Street, Hyattsville
Cost: Regular: $15; Combo (2 adults): $25; Family (up to 4): $40

Pen & Pose: A Workshop in Yoga and Writing 
In this workshop, we’ll use breath work, poses, mindfulness techniques, and writing exercises to connect with our bodies, mind and spirit. Wear comfortable clothing, and bring a yoga mat and your favorite notebook and pen.
When: 11am

Saturday Jam at Archie’s Barbershop 

Musicians of all skill levels are welcome to join in, and many music-lovers stop by just to listen. Besides being a good time for everyone, Saturdays at the Barbershop allow the young to learn from the old and the Piedmont blues tradition to be passed down to the next generation.

Wallflower-making Workshop with Camilla Schaeffer
Join artist Camilla Schaeffer for a paper flower-making session, inspired by her solo show, Wallflowers.  Great for making Mother’s Day presents!  This event is open house style – suitable for children + adults.

Party for Your Public Schools! 
A community event to benefit Mt. Rainier & Thomas Stone Elementary Schools! Come listen to the music of Ernesto “Gato” Gatell and his Cuban music band & bring your dancing shoes as you learn then Meringue, Salsa & Bachata!  Free childcare available with pizza dinner.

Contra Dance: Kappy Laning Calling to Transatlantic Crossing
Contra dance is fun, fun, fun! It is danced to live music which can have an array of instruments depending on the band. At the beginning of each evening dance, there is a 30-minute lesson to go over all the basic steps that will be called. Once you get the moves for the dance, the pattern just repeats itself. Easy!
When: 6:30pm (lesson); 7-9:45pm (dance!)

Spring Bird Walk 

Friends of Dueling Creek is sponsoring a spring bird walk at Colmar Manor Park – all are welcome! We will walk around trails in the park for 2-3 hours – some trails may be muddy, long pants and sturdy shoes recommended. This will not be strenuous and all ages are welcome. Bring binoculars. No dogs please.

When: 7am

Riverdale Park Arts Festival 
Come check out the work of local artists, artisans, authors, poets, crafts dealers available for sale at this 10th annual ArtsFest!

University Chorale Spring Choral Showcase

The University Chorale, UMD Women’s Chorus, and UMD Men’s Chorus present choral favorites that will have you humming into the night.

An eclectic musical double bill featuring an award-winning songwriter on tour from Manchester, England and a favorite duo from the DC Clown Cabaret!
