Toddler Time Fridays!

The Uncle Devin Show 
Join this interactive musical experience for children that uses percussion instruments to cultivate their minds – a dynamic cross between Schoolhouse Rock and The Muppet Show.  Children will be able to hear, see and play different percussion instruments.

Valentines Photo Box
Join our hands-on workshop and you and your child can build a Valentine-themed photo box, perfect for keeping photos of loved ones front and center. Once the box is built, your child can decorate it with paint and The Home Depot stickers. Tip: Get there early as supplies sometimes run out.

Put Art in Your Heart!
Hyattsville Aging in Place is hosting our 3rd annual free, all ages welcome!  We will provide a wide variety of art and craft supplies, fabrics, and other materials for you to get creative with and make Valentines for your loved ones and for our neighborhood seniors. Plus, there will be music and we’ll have instant photos so you can personalize your Valentine (and some fun dress up options as well)!

Over & Under the Sea: Black History Month at BWP
Celebrate Black History Month by exploring the life, adventures, and achievements of black divers, pirates, privateers, watermen, and more!  Enjoy artifacts and exhibits, hands-on activities and crafts, and hear from special guest speakers from Underwater Adventure Seekers, one of the first
organizations for Black scuba divers. We will also have an interactive touch tank of live aquatic creatures and microscope station.  Register here.

Spend an artful afternoon making a mixed media wreath with artist Karla Lawrence (1-3pm), enjoying a puppet show by Greenbelt’s own Beech Tree Puppets (3pm) and enjoy a stroll through the art studios and more (1-4pm)!

Lacrosse Clinic for Boys & Girls 
Learn about the elements of lacrosse, stick handling, passing, shooting and more! All equipment needed to participate will be available to borrow; participants should wear tennis shoes and athletic clothing. Pre-Registration is requested. Ages 5-14.

Voices in the Dark: Celebrating Black History 
In 1936, 70 years after the legal end of slavery in the United States, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt approved a historical research project commissioned by the Library of Congress. The goal of this enormous project was to locate and interview African Americans who had been born into slavery during the early to mid-1800s. More than 2,300 former slaves were interviewed; survivors of one of this country’s darkest periods. Their stories became what are now known as the WPA Slave Narratives. Several of these incredible stories are brought to life in the original stage production “Voices in the Dark.”

3D Pencil Model Workshop

Opening Reception at Pyramid Atlantic Arts Center

Movin’ with the Mayor: iSadcie Caribbean Dance Exercise
To encourage health, wellness and physical activity among residents, Hyattsville’s Mayor Candance Hollingsworth & local businesses have partnered to offer free introductory-level classes to all residents.  Join them as they work up a sweat doing iSadcie (described as “Island Zumba”) and exercising along to soca, reggae, dancehall, chutney, Afro-beat and kumpa music.

34th Annual Choreographers’ Showcase 
Called “a rite of passage in the DC-area dance community” by The Washington Post, the Choreographers’ Showcase is one of the longest-running showcases of new and established choreographers in the country.

Proteus Bicycle Coffee Ride
Join us for our regular Sunday quest for caffeine to Vigilante Coffee in Hyattsville. Meet at Proteus at 10 am for an easy ride along the beautiful Anacostia trail system, 10-12 miles round trip, some on road riding and street crossings. U.S. Marine Band Public Concert
“The President’s Own” United States Marine Band performs a concert titled “Wanderers,” conducted by Major Michelle A. Rakers. Highlights include John Philip Sousa’s The Grand Promenade at the White House (Coronation March) from Tales of a Traveler, Scott Lindroth’s Passage, Ottorino Respighi’s The Pines of Rome, and a Charles Ives Song Set.

Upcycled Valentine Party

From Cotton Field to Concert Hall 
All ages will enjoy this multi-media extravaganza of drumming, singing, dancing, music, spoken word, narration, and classical music. Follow a young slave from a plantation to the stages of great opera house in this invigorating performance that will gladden your heart.
