Adults' Weekend Guide: Nov. 9th-12th


The variety in this weekend's lineup is something else! :) From a Pizza Ride to an Alcohol Ink Coaster Making Project to a Fall Chorale Showcase to Red Dirt's Open Studio and Noontana at Joe's. So many fun, local events to keep us all content. 👏

THURSDAY 

Start your long weekend with yoga, art, and wine. As usual, there will be a Yin Yoga session followed by refreshments and community. Yoga is beginner-friendly and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided too.

Dance Dance Party Party!
Dance Dance Party Party is a women-only freestyle exercise dance session! Come in your exercise clothes. Burn anywhere from 200-400 calories Dance your heart out to an eclectic mix of music for an hour straight. Make new friends, leave refreshed!

Open Barre - $5 Friday Nights 
Never tried Open Barre before? Now's your chance. This class is open to everyone who registers - no membership required to sign up.

Veteran's Day Flag Case
With guidance from a Store Associate, you will cut, stain and assemble a commemorative flag case that will be donated and on display in remembrance of those who have selflessly served our country. When: 10-11:30am

Pizza Ride!
This week's Saturday road ride is a no-drop ride to Takoma Park for fantastic pizza at ROSCOE'S Neapolitan Pizzeria. It will be a cold day so layer up! The ride is ~25 miles RT, mostly paved off road trails but some streets. One big hill. Casual pace (but pedaling enough to stay warm!) Bring cash/cc, lock, appetite.
When: 10am-1pm

Veterans Day Ceremony
The College Park Veterans Memorial Committee would like to invite you to the rededicating of the Veterans Memorial in College Park this Veterans Day. We will be adding the names of those service members from College Park who died while serving in War World I and Vietnam.  The current memorial only has the names of those from College Park who died while serving in War World II.
When: 11am

Alcohol Ink Coaster Gift Making Party
Come one come all. This is your chance to go CRAZY making all the tiles you want using our inks and stamping supplies. We will offer instruction and tools, you just bring the tiles. These can then be sealed and used as coasters, wall art, hot plates or even magnets.
When: 2-4pm

Opening Reception: Splash: Attitude and Process

Noontana - Dinner, Dance and Music
Join this 5th Anniversary Party, full with live Indian classical music, vegetarian dinner, and interactive folk dance celebrating innovation in performances, cross cultural collaborations, and especially our supporters! Event will be honoring Manjula Kumar, Executive Director of Global Performing Arts, with Nootana’s Preronadayini Award, for continuing to be an inspiration to the greater DMV arts community.

SUNDAY 

Red Dirt Open Studio
Come see what'sup at Red Dirt at our fall open studio! ICYMI: Red Dirt is a warehouse studio for thirty independently practicing artists and creative professionals.

Wonderstuck with Guest Speaker after OC Screening
Join our open captions screening of Wonderstruck, followed by a guest speaker Lindsay Dunn, a lecturer at Gallaudet University whose research includes a special interest in the dynamics of oppression and the black deaf experience within Africa and its Diasporas.
When: 3-5pm
Where: Old Greenbelt Theatre, Greenbelt

Fall Chorale Showcase
UMD’s popular choral ensembles present an evening of eclectic repertoire ranging from chant to Barbershop arrangements.

Where: UMD's The Clarice, Dekelboum Concert Hall
Cost: Free!
