[Update! Tanglewood Works is now permanently at this new location! Yahoo!]

Tanglewood Works just opened up a pop-up shop in Hyattsville and it's a wonderful thing.  One foot inside the shop and you'll feel like you've finally been invited into the home of that cool chic from around the way whose style you dig but which you can never manage to successfully replicate.  Because...it's an art.  An art that Tanglewood Works proprietor and self-described "Dumpster Diva," Sue Mondeel, has perfected through the years and which she is sharing with us now at Tanglewood Works pop-up along Route One in Hyattsville.

Review: Delish beer and inexplicable swooning at The Public Option!

The hubs and I checked out The Public Option in Langdon, NE DC, a while back and were smitten with what we’d discovered:  a cozy, one-room parlor with eclectic seating and an owner who invited us up to the bar for an entertaining overview of the many craft beers he had on tap. (Disclaimer:  While this place is not in the area of Route 1 that I typically cover, it's a stone's throw from Mt. Rainier and such a good, low-fi, high-fun spot for folks considering a date-night/girl-night/guy's night/any time of day away from the kids that I thought I'd share on my blog.)

Rise + Rhyme at Hyattsville's Busboys and Poets!

Headed down to Busboys and Poets in Hyattsville this morning to do some movin' and groovin' with my lil lady at Rise + Rhyme.  Every Monday morning from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m, this fun, weekly program promises to get the kiddos (usually best for those 5 years old and younger though any age welcomed) moving and entertained with interactive storytelling and musical performances.  This morning's featured performer, Jessica "Culture Queen" Smith and her awesome, gold glittery shoes (actually, everything about her - visually and performance-wise, was super) captured our attention with catchy, original tunes that were super easy to sing along to and whose empowering, self-affirming messages were lovely to hear and recite.

Biz Review: Storytime on Screen at the Old Greenbelt Theatre!

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at Storytime on Screen at the Old Greenbelt Theatre!  This free, toddler-oriented event is held from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. the second and fourth Mondays of every month in partnership with the Prince George’s County Memorial Library Service.  The beautiful, historic theatre opens its doors during these hours just for this program so there's no worrying about your kiddo being too loud or getting some wiggles out running up and down the theatre aisles during story time.
